A Kid Again is dedicated to providing hope, happiness and healing for families raising children who are living with a life-threatening condition. We make life for families caring for a child with a life-threatening condition “normal” again by helping them gain back moments of positive, family-shared experiences and memories. A chance to be a kid again; time away from the hospital; an opportunity t

o forget about being sick; a group experience to a local destination with tickets, food, parking, mementos, and memories to last until the next Adventure. A Kid Again is specifically designed to involve the entire family (not just the child who is ill) to improve the well-being of everyone affected by the situation. This approach helps protect and strengthen the children’s primary support network and personal resolve during the most difficult period of their lives. Our Impact!

For many families caring for a child with a life-threatening condition, calendars are often filled with appointments, treatments, and uncertainty. Summer can feel less like a season of freedom and more like one more thing to navigate.

As we celebrate Matthew and his family, we’re filled with gratitude.

In the busyness of life, it’s easy to lose focus on the “why” behind A Kid Again. Stories like Matthew’s bring it back into view.

💚“Participating in A Kid Again gives us an enrichment that goes beyond what we could ever imagine,” Diane shared.

You just have to show up.

At the Capes & Crowns Walk and Family Fun Fest, every step you take helps create moments of hope, happiness, and healing for families served by A Kid Again.

This is a day built for everyone…families, friends, neighbors, coworkers. Come walk, have fun, and be part of something bigger than yourself.
Because while the child may be enrolled, these moments reach siblings, caregivers, and the entire family.

What was your favorite memory at an Adventure?

For Matthew and his family, it’s the time spent together. 🧡

Each year, they look forward to visiting Michigan’s Adventure…something that wouldn’t be possible without A Kid Again.

“It’s an adventure we could not afford to do as a family otherwise,” Matthew’s mom, Diane, shared. “Matthew is very happy to ride small rides and splash around in the water.” 💚

She also shared something that stayed with us:

“More often than not, we have to do things differently because of Matthew. But because of A Kid Again, we can enjoy Adventures as a family… and now my kids say it’s because of Matthew.” 🩵

That shift, from limitation to gratitude, is what these Adventures are all about. We’re grateful to walk alongside families like the Goodemotes, creating space for joy and connection. Check back next Friday for more.

For A Kid Again moms, motherhood can mean packing snacks, sunscreen, medications, and medical equipment all at once. Motherhood can mean balancing everyday moments with appointments, treatments, and uncertainty while still finding ways to create joy along the way.

Meet Matthew, one of our A Kid Again kids! 🧡

Matthew entered the world with a surprise diagnosis of Down Syndrome, along with additional medical complexities that require weekly therapies, tube feedings and ongoing care.

🩵But Matthew is so much more than his diagnosis.💚

He’s full of joy—and according to his family, it’s contagious. One of the ways he shares that joy? Entertaining others with his unique talent of holding his hair back…with his legs.

This month, we’re honored to share Matthew’s story, including his family’s journey, their experiences with A Kid Again Adventures and the moments that have meant the most.
