Island Youth Lacrosse Serving the community of Aquidneck Island and Newport County. IYL provides a developmental and competitive program for boys and girls. Emphasis on fun.

Island Youth Lacrosse (IYL) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit, all volunteer corporation, serving boys and girls youth lacrosse players in Middletown, Newport and surrounding communities in grades from K-8 (certain 9th graders are eligible if they are U15 and not on a High School team). IYL is a full member of the RI Youth Lacrosse League (RIYLL), which currently represents 12 youth lacrosse leagues aroun

d the State, and over 3,500 youth players. The RIYLL runs two distinct seasons. The Spring Season consists of 4-5 age divisions for both Boys and Girls. Practices start late March and games are played on Saturday mornings starting in early April and run through early June. The Fall Season ('Fall Ball') typically runs games on Saturday afternoons from early September to late October and is a purely recreational and relaxed season with no practices. IYL requires membership in US Lacrosse for all of its players and, per RIYLL rule, requires that its head coaches be at least Level 1 US Lacrosse Certified with NCIS BCI clearing as part of the certification process. We are growing and invite all: players of eligible age regardless of experience, size, or ability; coaches; volunteers; supporters; and friends of the great game of lacrosse.

That’s a wrap on another incredible Breakers season! Amazing job to all of our teams who crushed it at the JAMBOREE this past weekend 🥍☀️

Thank you to all of our players, families, coaches, and volunteers for a fantastic spring. We loved watching our athletes grow, compete, and represent the Breakers with pride all season long.

As we head into summer, don’t put down that stick! Keep working, keep grinding, and keep having fun with the game. Every pass, catch, and wall ball session adds up.

🥍 Jamboree Weekend! 🥍

The final whistle of the spring season is almost here, and we can’t wait to see all of our Breakers teams take the field one last time this weekend!

Coaches should have shared schedules with all players and families. Please check with your coach if you haven’t received yours yet.

Let’s finish the season the same way we started it—with great effort, great sportsmanship, and a whole lot of fun. From our Little Scoopers to our oldest players, we’re proud of everything you’ve accomplished this spring.

That’s a wrap on the Breakers 2026 spring season! From our Little Scoopers to our eighth graders preparing to join their high school teams, it’s been an incredible season filled with growth, hard work, and great memories.

Thank you to all of our players, coaches, and families for making this season such a success. We’ve learned a lot, improved every week, and had plenty of fun along the way.

Next up: the Jamboree on June 13–14! More information will be coming soon.

From Little Scoopers through 8th grade, Breakers boys and girls build confidence, friendships, skills, and a love for the game every step of the way. Whether they’re learning how to hold a stick for the first time or mastering advanced moves on the field, it’s always about fun, growth, teamwork, and memories that last long after the final whistle.
