Serving the community of Aquidneck Island and Newport County. IYL provides a developmental and competitive program for boys and girls. Emphasis on fun.

Island Youth Lacrosse (IYL) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit, all volunteer corporation, serving boys and girls youth lacrosse players in Middletown, Newport and surrounding communities in grades from K-8 (certain 9th graders are eligible if they are U15 and not on a High School team). IYL is a full member of the RI Youth Lacrosse League (RIYLL), which currently represents 12 youth lacrosse leagues around the State, and over 3,500 youth players. The RIYLL runs two distinct seasons. The Spring Season consists of 4-5 age divisions for both Boys and Girls. Practices start late March and games are played on Saturday mornings starting in early April and run through early June. The Fall Season ('Fall Ball') typically runs games on Saturday afternoons from early September to late October and is a purely recreational and relaxed season with no practices. IYL requires membership in US Lacrosse for all of its players and, per RIYLL rule, requires that its head coaches be at least Level 1 US Lacrosse Certified with NCIS BCI clearing as part of the certification process. We are growing and invite all: players of eligible age regardless of experience, size, or ability; coaches; volunteers; supporters; and friends of the great game of lacrosse.

🥍🎃 THAT’S A WRAP ON FALL BALL! 🍂

We went out with a BANG last night, wrapping up our final Fall Ball session with plenty of Halloween spirit! 👻🎃 High-fives to all our players who showed up in costume — we LOVE the enthusiasm!

A huge THANK YOU to everyone who joined us for 5 weeks of skills, drills, hard work, and fun! It’s been awesome watching our players grow, improve, and put in the work week after week.

Because one thing’s for sure… it’s always good to keep a stick in your hand! 🥍💪

❄️ UP NEXT: WINTER WORKOUTS! Stay tuned for our winter training schedule, which will take place at Long Plex, coming in the next few weeks!

One of our very own Breakers alumni is turning his passion for lacrosse into his SENIOR PROJECT, hosting a FREE Boys Lacrosse Clinic for young athletes ages 7–12!

Whether you’re looking to sharpen your skills or simply spend an afternoon playing the game we all love, come out and support a former Breaker as he shares his love of lacrosse with the next generation!

Today we celebrate the incredible coaches who make Breakers Lacrosse what it is.

While only a few of our amazing coaches are pictured here, this shoutout is for ALL of you — the volunteers who show up, give their time, share their knowledge, bring the energy, and help our players grow both on and off the field.

From a child picking up a stick for the very first time to our seasoned players competing at the next level, our coaches are there teaching skills, building confidence, encouraging teamwork and, most importantly, creating a love for the game. 🥍

It takes a pretty special person to volunteer their time to coach our kids — and we’re incredibly lucky to have so many of them.

That’s a wrap on another incredible Breakers season! Amazing job to all of our teams who crushed it at the JAMBOREE this past weekend 🥍☀️

Thank you to all of our players, families, coaches, and volunteers for a fantastic spring. We loved watching our athletes grow, compete, and represent the Breakers with pride all season long.

As we head into summer, don’t put down that stick! Keep working, keep grinding, and keep having fun with the game. Every pass, catch, and wall ball session adds up.

🥍 Jamboree Weekend! 🥍

The final whistle of the spring season is almost here, and we can’t wait to see all of our Breakers teams take the field one last time this weekend!

Coaches should have shared schedules with all players and families. Please check with your coach if you haven’t received yours yet.

Let’s finish the season the same way we started it—with great effort, great sportsmanship, and a whole lot of fun. From our Little Scoopers to our oldest players, we’re proud of everything you’ve accomplished this spring.

Good luck to all of our teams, and let’s kick off summer with an amazing weekend of lacrosse! ☀️🥍💙
