Island Community Farms and Gardens - a project of ACT Aquidneck Community Table - A.C. T. Formerly - Sustainable Aquidneck Island Community Farms and Gardens is a project of Aquidneck Community Table (A.C.T.) Locally.

which was formed from the merger of Sustainable Aquidneck, the Aquidneck Growers Market, and the Island Commons initiative. The projects known as Island Community Farms and Gardens include Educational Gardens, Micro-Farms, Permaculture Food Forests and Community Gardens at the following locations:

• Island Community Gardens @ Florence Grey C

🍂Come de-stress, at ICF!
Enjoy complimentary coffee ☕thanks ☕, cider donuts, and a peaceful autumn morning with us at our Island Community Farm! Join us Sunday October 20th from 10 am to 12 pm, at Island Community Farm, Elizabeth Lane, Middletown, RI.
We will be sprucing up our pollinator garden, which includes pruning, deadheading, and mostly pulling out w**ds. We will provide gardening gloves, sunscreen, and bug spray.

Calling all volunteers! Spend time immersed in nature as we work together in the pollinator garden and food forest at Island Community Farm on Thursday, August 10th from 4 to 5PM.

We will be w**ding and adding wood chips to pathways in the pollinator garden. In the food forest, we will w**d around trees and add compost and mulch. We will have garden gloves and tools available to share, but feel free to bring your own. ⁠

What is a food forest? A food forest is a permaculture system that mimics a natural ecosystem providing ecological functions, such as sequestering carbon and rebuilding organic matter in the soil, while producing nuts, berries, and other foods - for both animals and humans. ⁠

Learn about our permaculture food forest system ith Hawk & Handsaw Farm and the diversity of plant species growing there as we w**d, plant, and install our brand new botanical labels. Bring your gardening gloves!

Hawk and Handsaw Farm has operated out of a Community Farm for four years now. It has been a great experience to grow along side other amazing plant lovers of all skills out there!
