The mission of the Star Kids Scholarship Program is to provide educational opportunities in the form of tuition aid to effective non-public schools,uniforms, after-school and summer programs, tutoring and mentoring for those highrisk, low-income children who have a parent with a history of incarceration and/or substance abuse.

We need your help to reach our Supplies for Success goal by Labor Day!

Our goal is to raise $7,500 to provide Star Kids students with school supply gift cards or supply kits before the first day of school.

For many families, school supplies can be a significant expense, especially for households with multiple children. Your gift helps ease that burden and gives students the tools they need to begin the year prepared and ready to learn.

As one Star Kids parent shared:

“We appreciate Star Kids very much and all that you do. I truly can’t tell you how much the help with financial costs means to me. Thank you again. My daughter is going to love going shopping for what she needs.”

We’re so grateful to have been selected as a charitable partner of the Citizens Pell Bridge Run for another year!

A huge thank you to Citizens Bank and the Rhode Island Turnpike and Bridge Foundation for continuing to support our mission and for giving us the opportunity to be part of this incredible event. And, of course, thank you to all of our wonderful volunteers who helped make bib pickup a success!

Four Hearts is collecting school supplies for our students through an Amazon Wish List, giving our community another meaningful way to support the Supplies for Success Appeal.

The start of a new school year should be exciting, not stressful.

Our Supplies for Success Appeal is back with a goal of raising $7,500 by Labor Day to provide each Star Kid with a $75 school supply gift card or supply kit.

Last year, this effort helped 100 Star Kids students start the school year prepared and ready to learn. This year, we are continuing this essential support so every student can walk into the classroom feeling confident and ready to succeed.

📚✨ The joy of reading is something worth sharing!

Portsmouth Abbey student, Cecelia Finnegan, generously collected hundreds of books to donate to our Star Kids students. She organized a book display at our New Student Orientation, giving current and new Star Kids students the opportunity to connect and bond over their love of learning.

We’re so grateful to Cecelia for her thoughtfulness and generosity! 💙 And the books were clearly a hit — every single one was picked up within just two days!

Families had the opportunity to learn more about the Star Kids program and hear an inspiring perspective from Star Kids parent, Selina. We’re so grateful she took the time to share her experience and help welcome our newest families into the Star Kids community.

Creativity, imagination, and pizza... what more could you ask for? 🎨🍕

This year’s summer enrichment workshop was one to remember!

A huge thank you to the SWAP - Surfers With A Purpose 501(c)(3) for once again organizing an incredible opportunity for our students. Your continued partnership and commitment to creating meaningful experiences for our scholars is truly appreciated.

We're also so grateful to the Newport Art Museum for welcoming our students to explore the Play/Pretend exhibit before guiding them through their own creative art projects. It was inspiring to see our students use their imaginations and express themselves through art!

Afterward, everyone enjoyed making their own personal pizzas at Aquidneck Pizza & Sports Bar. Watching everyone stretch the dough, choose their toppings and enjoy the pizzas they created made for the perfect ending to a day full of creativity and fun!

A special thank you to Ocean State Transit for safely transporting our students and helping make this experience possible.

Congratulations to the Star Kids Class of 2026! 🎓⭐️

Last week, we had the privilege of celebrating our 15 graduating seniors at our Alletta Morris Pathways Bound Grant Ceremony, surrounded by their families, Trustees of the Alletta Morris McBean Charitable Trust, board members, sponsors, and friends.

We are incredibly proud of this remarkable group of students. Their hard work, resilience, and determination have led them to this milestone, and we're thrilled to celebrate another year of a 100% graduation rate!

A heartfelt thank you to the Alletta Morris McBean Charitable Trust for their continued investment in our students through both our College & Career Prep Program and the Pathways Bound Grant. Their generosity helps remove financial barriers and empowers our graduates to confidently pursue college, trade school, and other post-secondary opportunities.

Did you know Rhode Island businesses can save on state taxes while providing scholarships to Star Kids students?

The RI Scholarship Tax Credit Program lets eligible businesses make a one- or two-year commitment that funds scholarships for Star Kids students.
