Connecticut Wing offers challenging opportunities to youth & adults pursuing interests in Aerospace Civil Air Patrol, the official auxiliary of the U.S.

We value your participation and encourage respectful and constructive dialogue. Air Force, is a nonprofit organization with 60,000 members nationwide, operating a fleet of 550 aircraft. CAP, in its Air Force auxiliary role, performs about 85 percent of continental U.S. inland search and rescue missions as tasked by the Air Force Rescue Coordination Center and is credited by the AFRCC with saving an average of 70 lives annually. Its unpaid professionals also perform homeland security, disaster relief and drug interdiction missions at the request of federal, state and local agencies. The members play a leading role in aerospace education and serve as mentors to more than 25,000 young people currently participating in the CAP cadet programs. Performing missions for America for over 70 years, CAP will receive the Congressional Gold Medal in 2015 in honor of the heroic efforts of its World War II veterans. CAP also participates in Wreaths Across America, an initiative to remember, honor and teach about the sacrifices of U.S. military veterans. Visit:

It is with deep sadness that we announce the sudden passing of SMSgt John Minasian Jr. on Friday, October 30th. John leaves behind his wife Sandy, daughter Julianna, and sons Matthew and Michael.

John joined the Civil Air Patrol in 2017 after a long and distinguished career in the Army. He quickly became a vital part of the Connecticut Wing family, serving as the Waterbury Squadron Commander before becoming an NCO, Wing Senior Enlisted Leader, and advisor.

The wake for John will be Sunday, November 8th from 5 - 8pm at Washington Memorial Funeral Home, 4 Washington Avenue North Haven, CT 06473. The funeral will be held on Monday, November 9th at Riverside Memorial Cemetery in Norwalk. All members who knew and loved John are encouraged to attend the services in dress blues modeling perfect grooming standards in accordance with CAPR 39-1.

SMSgt Minasian was a great friend and an essential part of the Connecticut Wing and Northeast Region. He will be greatly missed.

This evening, Cadet Saathvik Maheswaran was presented with his Billy Mitchell Award by Col Ashley LaPlante. Rep Tom Delnicki also presented C/2d Lt Maheswaran with a citation for this honor.

Today the Nutmeg Ham Fest Alliance is hosting its 34th Annual Nutmeg Ham Fest and ARRL Connecticut State Convention. A small group from our squadron in Waterbury set up a recruiting booth and informational table to talk with like-minded individuals.
