CAP, in its Air Force auxiliar

y role, performs about 85 percent of continental U.S. inland search and rescue missions as tasked by the Air Force Rescue Coordination Center and is credited by the AFRCC with saving an average of 70 lives annually. Its unpaid professionals also perform homeland security, disaster relief and drug interdiction missions at the request of federal, state and local agencies. The members play a leading role in aerospace education and serve as mentors to more than 25,000 young people currently participating in the CAP cadet programs. Performing missions for America for over 70 years, CAP will receive the Congressional Gold Medal in 2015 in honor of the heroic efforts of its World War II veterans. One wing in each region is selected to receive an award for several of Civil Air Patrol's missions, with input from our CAP-USAF partners. Connecticut Wing was selected to receive the Homeland Defense and Homeland Security Missions Award (for the second year in a row), for our work with our partners at CT's Division of Emergency Management and Homeland Security (DEMHS).

We have another great batch of photos from today, and they really show how much your cadets accomplished. From early morning wake‑ups to inspections, evaluations, PT, graduation practice, and even a well‑earned ice cream social, each flight pushed through a full day of learning, teamwork and leadership. The schedule was packed, but the cadets handled it with focus, discipline and a lot of enthusiasm.

With graduation coming up tomorrow, you can feel the excitement building across the entire encampment. Cadets have been working hard all week, and today’s activities were a final chance to refine their skills, strengthen their teamwork and get ready for the moment they’ve been aiming for. They’re proud, they’re prepared, and they’re eager to cross this important milestone.

We’re thrilled to share these photos with you and give you a closer look at everything they’ve been doing. Tomorrow is going to be a big day.

Today was one of the most memorable days of Encampment, and your cadets made the absolute most of it. From hands-on aerospace learning to friendly competition on the parade field, they showed teamwork, focus and a whole lot of enthusiasm.

Cadets kicked off the morning with graduation rehearsal, practicing the ceremony they’ve been working toward all week. Afterwards, they dove into a rocketry lesson that had them building and launching fizzy rockets with plenty of laughter mixed in. The afternoon brought a soccer tournament where flights cheered each other on, followed by a well-earned ice cream social and yearbook time. Cadets enjoyed relaxing with friends, signing books, and celebrating everything they’ve accomplished.

During the ice cream social, the PAO Team premiered a fun ten-minute "Week in Review" video that highlighted the best moments of Encampment. Cadets loved seeing themselves and their friends in action, reliving everything from early morning PT to leadership challenges, classes, and flight pride.

We also recognized outstanding staff and flights today. Senior members and cadet leaders continued to set the tone with professionalism and care, and Gold Flight earned Honor Flight of the Day for their impressive improvement and performance.

Tomorrow is graduation, and the cadets are ready. They’ve grown, learned, and supported one another every step of the way. We can’t wait for you to see how proud they are of what they’ve achieved.

We have even more great moments from this week that we’re excited to share with you. Cadets have been giving their all in every activity, every formation, and every challenge, and these additional photos capture that energy perfectly. From leadership classes to team events to the day‑to‑day routines that build discipline and confidence, these snapshots highlight just how much your cadets have accomplished.

Cadets had another packed and purposeful day at Encampment, starting bright and early at 0500 with PT prep and morning formation. Each flight moved through a full schedule of leadership classes, team challenges, inspections, and hands‑on activities that kept them engaged from start to finish.

Parents can be proud of how hard these cadets worked today. Tug of War, Minefield, Electric Fence, and Capture the Guidon brought out teamwork, grit, and a lot of determination. Leadership sessions with Major Nieves and Lt Col Syska pushed them to think critically and communicate clearly. Aerospace NCSAs and the fighter pilot Ted Talk gave them a chance to learn from professionals who have lived the experiences they’re striving toward.

Even with a few minor delays, every flight stayed focused and flexible. Meals, formations, graduation practice, and evening routines all ran smoothly, and cadets wrapped up the night with quiet time in the barracks before lights out at 2130.

Graduation is quickly approaching, and the excitement is building. Cadets are proud of how far they’ve come, and they’re eager to reach this significant milestone. They’re showing confidence, discipline, and leadership that will carry them well beyond this week.

Day 5 at CTWG Encampment was packed with energy, teamwork, and growth.
Cadets kicked off the morning with an obstacle course that pushed their agility, confidence, and determination. Support Staff jumped in too, making the friendly competition even more exciting.

Throughout the day, cadets strengthened their leadership skills with trivia challenges and wrapped up with a motivating session on what comes next after encampment. From new opportunities to future pathways, they’re discovering how today’s experiences build tomorrow’s leaders.

Parents, your cadets are showing grit, enthusiasm, and a drive to improve every single day. You’d be proud of how they support one another and rise to each challenge.
