U.S. Veteran
Michael Anthony Rogalsky, 79, of Middletown, husband of Nancy (O’Neil) Rogalsky, died Thursday, March 12, 2026 at VA Connecticut Healthcare, West Haven.
He was born in Middletown, the son of the late Benjamin and Barbara Rogalsky. He attended Portland schools, Middlesex Community College, and The Computer Processing Institute.
A veteran of the Vietnam War, he served with the US Army. Mike was the East Coast Manager with Ames Department Stores Technical Department and was Lot Manager and Web Designer for Jukonski Truck Sales. He drove charter buses for several companies and in retirement, drove a bus for the Middletown Senior Center.
Mike began his volunteer career as a First Aid and CPR Instructor for the American Red Cross. Later on, he became active across the state in Veteran’s Organizations. He was especially active in organizing flags and wreaths for graves in the CT State Veterans’ Cemetery, Middletown. He was a member of numerous Veteran’s Organizations and served as Commander of City of Middletown CT, Council of Veterans and Veterans of the Vietnam War. He was named CT State American Legion Adjutant of the Year in 2015. He received the Middlesex County Chamber of Commerce William J. Pomfret Veteran Community Service Award and was honored by the Hartford Courant as a Hometown Hero. He served on the American Legion Department of CT Veterans Affairs and Rehabilitation Commission and worked on the State Legislation Commission. He was inducted into the CT Veterans Hall of Fame Class of 2025.
He enjoyed travel and went scuba diving in the Caribbean and visited throughout the United States, the United Kingdom, Europe, Scandinavia, and Russia. He also sailed through the Panama Canal. He was an excellent cook and enjoyed cooking for family and friends.
In addition to his wife, Nancy, he is survived by his daughter, Brenda Blejwas (Mark) and two grandchildren, Sarah Blejwas and CPT Matthew Blejwas
His Funeral Liturgy will be held on Monday, Mar. 30th at 10:30 a.m. at St. Pius X Church, 310 Westfield St., Middletown. Burial with military honors will follow at the CT State Veterans’ Cemetery, Middletown.
