Goose Creek Association has joined Loudoun Now Voice with the launch of The Green Loudoun Podcast, a new monthly series on Loudoun Now focused on the real-world impact of conservation, land use, and environmental stewardship in Loudoun County. Through conversations with the people working every day to protect local waterways, preserve open space, support sustainable agriculture, and strengthen community resilience, the podcast will explore how environmental issues directly affect quality of life, public health, recreation, and the future of the region.

The Green Loudoun Podcast is hosted by GCA Executive Director Alyson Borowczyk and sponsored by Luck Stone.

“The Green Loudoun podcast will help advance our vision for the Goose Creek watershed by making environmental issues more accessible, highlighting collaborative solutions, and inspiring more people to become active stewards of the watershed,” Borowczyk said. “It’s a way to better understand the environmental issues shaping our region, the practical work being done to protect it, and how Loudouners can play a role in being part of the solution.”

“We’re excited to give Loudoun’s natural world a microphone through Alyson’s conversations with other people working and leading on our local environment,” Loudoun Community Media Executive Director Renss Greene said. “The expertise and passion for the watershed and the world around it—and around us—is inspiring to see, and I’ve already learned a lot just from being around some of the recording sessions. These are essential conversations if Loudoun is going to stay a great place to live.”

Loudoun Now Voice gives a platform to conversations with local voices about all the things that matter to Loudoun—from interviews with Tales and Ales storytellers, to in-depth discussions with nonprofit leaders about how to serve the community, to conversations with local business leaders about the ins and outs of running a business.

The first episode of Green Loudoun is available now at loudounnow.com/greenloudoun, and on the Loudoun Now Voice and Green Loudoun podcasts wherever you get your podcasts.

Today is Give Local Piedmont—and this moment matters.

The Potomac River was just named the most endangered river in America by American Rivers—a reflection of increasing pressure from development, water demand, aging infrastructure, and pollution.

But the Potomac’s story doesn’t start at the river itself.
It starts in tributaries like Goose Creek.

Right here in our community, Goose Creek is a critical source of drinking water and a direct contributor to the health of the Potomac. What happens in this watershed flows downstream—impacting ecosystems and communities far beyond Loudoun and Fauquier counties.

At Goose Creek Association, we’re working every day to protect it—through:
• Water quality monitoring
• Riparian buffer restoration and tree planting
• Youth environmental education
• Community engagement and stewardship

This work is local—but the impact is far-reaching.

Today, you can be part of protecting both Goose Creek and the Potomac River.

Give during Give Local Piedmont and help us continue this critical work.

What an incredible day at Run the Rock at our Leesburg Plant! 💙

Together, we raised over $6,500 for our beneficiary, Goose Creek Association.

Thank you to everyone who showed up, laced up, and made it so special, including our amazing volunteers. There’s nothing better than being together with the community in Ashburn, which was so full of energy, connection, and a whole lot of heart.

And how cool was that tunnel? 👏

Save the date for our next Run the Rock 5K event in Rockville, VA on September 26th, 2026!

Our 2026 Annual Members Cocktail Party was a huge success, and a fantastic time was had by all.

Our host this year was the ever-gracious Mr. Jay Adams, who allowed us to enjoy his stunning home, Fairfield, for a beautiful evening in The Plains.

This year, we celebrated Mike Littman, President of Loudoun Invasive Removal Alliance, for his tremendous help in assisting GCA over the past year. LIRA’s annual event to eradicate spotted lantern fly eggs, Scrape for the Grape, will be featured on the Today Show next Wednesday - don’t miss it!

Our Board and Staff is so grateful for the presence of over 100 members, sponsors, volunteers, and partners. We’re truly grateful for all of the support - we can’t do it without you!

Last week, Goose Creek Association, along with Loudoun Soil and Water District and volunteers from , , and , worked along Goose Creek at to perform a restoration and new buffer planting over the course of two days. Volunteers planted over 200 trees and performed restoration work on 83 more.

Riparian buffers (vegetated area along the creek) are important to protect water quality, reduce erosion, and provide wildlife habitat.

Ever wonder how to properly plant a bare root tree? Listen in as Annie and Faith show you how!

🎒🌊Education Presentation at Frederick Douglass Elementary School

We had a great time presenting the EnviroScape for 4 different Fourth Grade classes at Frederick Douglass Elementary School this past month!

🌳We love presenting to students about the importance of watersheds, educating students on actions they can take to protect and preserve the environment!

If you are interested in having Goose Creek Association come to your school this spring or fall, please contact us: https://goosecreek.org/contact-us/! We would love to present at your school!

Recent fish counts in Goose Creek are telling an encouraging story.

Through a pilot project in partnership with George Mason University Potomac Environmental Research and Education Center ( more than 700 fish representing over 20 species were documented in just a short stretch of the creek—an important indicator of ecosystem health.

This kind of biodiversity reflects the impact of ongoing monitoring, restoration, and stewardship efforts across the watershed.

At Goose Creek Association, this work doesn’t stop at data collection. It informs how we restore riparian buffers, engage students, and guide conservation decisions that protect this vital resource.

Because what we do on land affects the water—and the life within it.
