Drawing from the archive of renowned photographer René Robert, José Manuel Álvarez proposes a performative space where dance and digital art converge.This work reinterprets more than 50 years of flamenco photography in which Robert sought to capture a state of grace and the fury of living. Álvarez translates gesture into movement, embodying the photographer at the moment of the shutter's release—becoming the developing vessel and the conduit through which these artists are reconnected.Through corporeal expression, the work establishes a living dialogue between the photographed flamenco figures and the present moment.

El Perro del Hortelano: Comer… y dejar comer.

Más allá de su gloriosa envoltura en verso, El perro del hortelano es una comedia que habla de una mujer que se ha creado un reino propio. La condesa de Belflor es la dueña de ese pequeño mundo al que acuden pretendientes y que ella rechaza, recelosa del matrimonio y sus leyes, hasta que los celos se apoderan de ella. Cuando se entera de que su secretario, Teodoro, pretende a Marcela, una de sus damas, se revela como una hábil maquinadora de intrigas, para terminar siendo ella quien se case con Teodoro.

THE DOG IN THE MANGER: TO EAT… AND LET EAT

Beyond its glorious verse form, The Dog in the Manger is a comedy about a woman who has created a kingdom of her own. Countess Diana of Belflor is the mistress of this small world, visited by suitors whom she rejects, wary of marriage and its rules, until jealousy takes hold of her. When she learns that her secretary, Teodoro, is courting Diana, one of her ladies in waiting, she reveals herself to be a skillful schemer of intrigues, ultimately ending up as the one who marries Teodoro.

Miami’s Program III features two world premieres, “Love-less” and “Traces,” that examine this universal emotion, and three repertory works. Broward audiences can experience this evening of some of the best of Florida dance on Friday, May 8, at the Lauderhill Performing Arts Center and in Miami-Dade on Saturday, May 9, at the Aventura Arts & Cultural Center.
