Congratulations to Magnus Sodamin on the unveiling of Bletia Purpurea!

Magnus joined us for Bridge Initiative’s residency, where artists explored South Florida’s unique ecosystems through direct experiences in the field—from the Everglades to Biscayne Bay. It’s inspiring to see those connections continue to flourish in public work like this.

Commissioned by the City of Miami Art in Public Places for the Dr. Armando Badia Senior Center, Bletia Purpurea celebrates the pine-pink orchid, a threatened native species found in the pine rocklands and wetlands of the Everglades. Surrounded by vibrant thatch palms, the mural invites viewers into the beauty of South Florida’s subtropical landscapes while highlighting the fragile ecosystems that sustain them.

We love seeing artists use their work to foster a deeper connection to place and inspire stewardship of the natural world. Congratulations, Magnus, on this beautiful addition to Miami’s public landscape. 🌿💗

Congratulations to Anna Valdez!

We’re thrilled to see Anna’s beautiful new mural Spring Migration debut on New York’s first public hybrid electric ferry, the Harbor Charger, as part of the arts program on Governors Island.

Anna joined us this January for our residency in South Florida, where artists explored the Everglades, Biscayne Bay, and the landscapes that shape our relationship to place. We’re honored to have her as part of our growing community and excited that her work will also be featured in our upcoming exhibition this winter

There’s something especially fitting about seeing Spring Migration traveling across the harbor—a work that reflects movement, connection, and the natural world carried into public space.

Congratulations, Anna. We can’t wait to share more of your work with our community soon.

📍Spring Migration is on view through 2027 aboard the Harbor Charger ferry serving Governors Island.

This is our backyard.

We were honored to work with and photographer .usa on this timely and important story — a portrait of the Big Cypress ecosystem and the Miccosukee community living at the center of the fight against the immigration detention center known as “Alligator Alcatraz,” illegally built on protected land without tribal consent or environmental review.

The land is sacred. The people are still here. And the fight to protect both is ongoing.

Support — they are leading the lawsuit alongside the Miccosukee Tribe to protect this sacred area. Donate to the Everglades Defense Fund via the link in our bio.

A love letter to Miami, in postcard form.

At our table this weekend, we’re bringing a small collection of postcards that feel like fragments of this place: sunlight on water, mangroves at the edge of the bay, manatees moving just beneath the surface.

Christina Pettersson ’s work traces the city in color and line—from the rhythms of the Art Deco district to the quiet depth of Biscayne Bay—mapping both what we see and what we sometimes overlook.

Beatriz Chachamovits ‘ turns her attention to the Marjory Stoneman Douglas Biscayne Nature Center, a place that has introduced generations of Miami-Dade students to the bay, and all the life it holds.

Together, these works hold onto something fleeting—moments, ecosystems, memories of a city shaped by water.

Take one with you. Send it, keep it, pin it to your wall. Proceeds support our ongoing work to establish Biscayne Bay as a National Heritage Area.

There are artists who observe nature, and then there are artists who move through it.

Michele Oka Doner has spent decades working at the intersection of art, ecology, and the unseen forces that shape our world.

At our table this weekend, we’ll be sharing two of her recent zines—each rooted in a very different landscape, but connected by that same deep attention.

An Immersive World was developed during her time in Alaska with the Alaska Whale Foundation —an experience that became the foundation for Hello Whale, the film co-directed by our founder, Katherine Fleming. It’s a quiet, expansive look at marine life, observation, and presence.

Her Talisman project, recently publicly activated on Park Avenue in New York City, moves in another direction—bringing natural forms into the urban environment, asking how objects can hold meaning, memory, and protection within the built world.

Two bodies of work. Two ecosystems. One way of seeing that asks us to slow down and pay attention.

Find both at our table at the Miami Zine Fair.

Memories from a week long painting excursion in South Florida with and We brought 5 painters out to stay at a tropical botanic garden in Miami and ventured into places like an to make paintings to make sense of the area which upon first impression can feel like a tangle of vines strangling flowering trees, and pools of tannic water holding tooothy reptiles and a menagerie of birds and flying insects, but it is a much more serene and wondrous place than that! Follow for a more in depth look at the paintings all of the participating artists created there as we post them in the coming weeks.
