Due to the exposed cruelty to animals implied in factory farming, the killing industry is reinventing itself by using terms that make people feel OK while eating animals. "Humane" is the new word used by the animal killing industry referring to the way of raising, handling, and killing the animals. The raising and handling is still questionable, what it is unacceptable is to tie the word humane to killing because humane does not mean Less Harm as it is propagandized, humane's true meaning is doing NO HARM to people or animals. Today I celebrated the Valentines For Lo**ta event I had planned with my students. We set a table during lunch at the courtyard and displayed pictures of Lo**ta and her story. We printed informational bilingual flyers, and had our students and faculty to express their support to Lo**ta's freedom by filling a Valentine Card for Lo**ta, project by Peggy Oki and the Origami Whales Project. HUMANE SCHOOL INITIATIVE EVENT. According to the HSI Calendar, January is the month of Animals Used as Entertainment. Since we have been campaigning in support to Lo**ta, The Lonely Orca held captive at Miami Seaquarium, we want to bring awareness to our schools through this suggested activity "Valentines for Lo**ta" an initiative from Peggy Oki from the Origami Whale Project. This is Humane Foundation's Petition to Miami Seaquarium to Free Lo**ta, an Orca whale who has lived in captivity in the smallest tank in the US for the last 44 years. We believe this is tremendously inhumane, and we respectfully ask for her immediate retirement. HELP WANTED: Friends and colleagues we need to launch The Humane School Initiative program in every school but the program coordinator Deniz Merey and I need some help to finalize the product and have it ready for launching. We are putting together a team of volunteers willing to help make this happen. Right now we need some help in putting together the Humane School Initiative Handbook, it still needs some brainstorming for the suggested activities and events, plus a few elements that need to be added. We also need people who can help with the graphic work of the handbook and our web presence including website and social networks. Please let us know if you are willing to help.
