A weekend well spent in Orlando with Collective Circle! Our August Art Drive brought members together for an inspiring weekend of art, exploration, and connection.

Members enjoyed private curator-led tours of The Alfond Collection of Contemporary Art at the Alfond Inn, the Rollins Museum of Art, and the Florida Prize in Contemporary Art at the Orlando Museum of Art, where they visited the work of 2026 Florida Prize winner and Oolite Arts alum Francisco Masó as well as other alumni, including Charo Oquet, Rose Marie Cromwell, and Ema Ri; current Studio Residents Shayla Marshall and Lucía Morales; and Ellies Creator Award winner Maria Theresa Barbist.

We’re excited to share that Oolite Arts has received a 2026 Capacity Building Grant from the Jorge M. Pérez Family Foundation at The Miami Foundation through its CreARTE grant program!

As we continue to grow and evolve, this support will help strengthen our organization and build the capacity needed to expand our impact, create new opportunities for artists, and continue serving Miami’s creative community.

We’re grateful to the Pérez Family Foundation and Miami Foundation for investing in our future and supporting the long-term growth of arts organizations across Miami-Dade County.

See what our Oolite Arts alumni are up to:

Emma Cuba (Cinematic Resident 2023) has been named one of three recipients of the inaugural Miami Film Fund for her feature film, “Water Water Everywhere,” which she developed during her residency at Oolite Arts.

Presented by Miami Dade College’s Miami Film Festival in partnership with ArtesMiami, the fund provides $5,000 grants to Miami-connected filmmakers for projects in production or post-production.

Congratulations to Emma on this exciting milestone and on continuing to bring her project from development to the screen!

Join us online Wednesday, Sept. 2 for “Women Across Moving Image: Sustaining Practice,” the inaugural edition of Global Media Exchanges, a series bringing together filmmakers and moving image practitioners from around the world to explore contemporary filmmaking and artistic practice.

Moderated by Oolite Arts Cinematic alum Monica Sorelle (Cinematic Resident 2019), the panel features filmmakers Isabel Sandoval (Philippines), Raven Jackson (USA), and Marialy Rivas (Chile) for a conversation on artistic process, authorship, and the realities of sustaining a creative practice over time.

Resident Spotlight: Lucía Morales (Studio Resident 2026) examines migration, identity, and cultural memory through her work in “Sites of the Self.”

In “Todo lo que fue” (2026), Morales uses mantas, safety pins, and personal belongings to reflect on her Peruvian and Andean heritage. Through textiles, video, and installation, her practice considers how memory, movement, and personal history shape our sense of self across place and time.

“Sites of the Self” is presented in collaboration with Bakehouse Art Complex and curated by René Morales. See the exhibition at Oolite Arts through Oct. 4, 2026.

Resident Spotlight: Genesis Moreno (Studio Resident 2026) turns quilting into a language of vulnerability and self-expression through her work in “Sites of the Self.”

In “The Rebel” (2025), Moreno uses vintage bedsheets, sublimation prints, vintage doilies, used clothing, thread, and batting to explore trauma, mental health, and obsessive care. Through a feminist lens, her quilts transform familiar fabrics into charged objects that ask viewers to sit with discomfort, memory, and emotion.

We’re proud to celebrate eight Oolite Arts alumni whose work is featured in “DRAW,” an international exhibition at Passerelle Centre for Contemporary Art in Brest, France.

Created in New York in the early 2010s, the DRAW Project brings together artists from different generations, cultures and practices, using drawing as a shared language and a space for exchange, experimentation and connection.

“DRAW” is on view through Oct. 17, 2026, at Passerelle Centre for Contemporary Art.

Have you had the chance to check out the current exhibitions on view at Windows @ Walgreens?

At 67th Street and Collins Avenue, Mark Delmont’s “For a Lifetime” explores labor, interdependence, and embodied knowledge through photography. Drawing from his construction background and time in a fishing village in Paramaribo, Suriname, Delmont centers the hands and bodies that build, repair, and sustain, using “learning how to fish” as a metaphor for collective growth.

At 74th Street and Collins Avenue, Beatriz Chachamovits’ “Heliotropic Seekers: Drift” transforms the storefront into a glowing reef of suspended plexiglass silhouettes. The installation considers drift as a form of collective navigation guided by light, current, and the rhythms of marine life.

Both exhibitions are on view through Sept. 6 in Miami Beach.
