SARAH ZAPATA: AGAINST A STATE OF MALEVOLENCE
NOW ON VIEW
Check out The Bass’s newest exhibition, Sarah Zapata: Against a State of Malevolence, an immersive exploration of color, texture, movement and memory. Through monumental textile installations, Zapata draws from weaving traditions, architecture, q***r identity and her Peruvian heritage to create environments that transform textiles into tactile, emotional and deeply symbolic experiences.

Featuring Blue in the Hands of Prospect (2025) alongside A Famine of Hearing (2019), a recent acquisition for our permanent collection selected by Future Bass members, the exhibition traces the evolution of Zapata’s practice across handwoven textiles, tufting and sculptural forms. Moving between serene fields of blue and bold, saturated color, the installations invite visitors to step inside Zapata’s world and experience textile as something architectural, immersive and alive.

Organized by Jasa McKenzie, Associate Curator at The Bass.

Generously supported by The Forum of Fountainhead Arts.

I always start at the Bass and usually don’t get to go further but there are many Events and Venus.

Don’t Miss our CPNA Membership meeting July 21st.
The W Hotel will host us for the last time. Lite bites and refreshments start at 6:30PM.
The meeting will start sharply at 7PM.I will allow any attending candidate to introduce themselves to the membership so they have faces that go with the names on the ballot. The W ownership will present the Historic Preservation Boards approved plan to convert the property to a Waldoff Astoria. There is an additional plan they are still working on for a private club that many hotels now offer. There were concerns raised by Roney Owners that the plan would cause too much noise into the early morning hours. Code Compliance will attend the meeting to discuss how noise complaints are handled and measured. There will be time for questions and answers before the meeting ends. Please take the time to attend this important meeting.

The Collins Park Neighborhood has many great venues that touch us.
We have the New 19 acre Bayshore Park at 2500 Pine Tree Drive.
We have the New World Center and SoundScape Park
We have the Fillmore and whatever will finally happen with the Jackie Gleason Theater
We have the Miami Beach Chamber of Commerce
We have the newly remodeled Iconic Delano Hotel that put South Beach on the Map…and
We now have Santorini’s Greek Restaurant at the Gale Hotel, 17th and Collins. How lucky are we?
