This September, we’re asking YOU to bring PJAMMIN to your school. 💛

September is Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, and one of the ways to honor the kids is to host a PJAMMIN spirit day/week. For kids with cancer, pajamas can mean long days in the hospital. PJAMMIN turns a school spirit day or week into a way to stand in solidarity. Wearing gold or yellow is another great way to show support and honor patients this month.

Join students across the country in organizing PJAMMIN, earning service hours, and most importantly advocating for kids with cancer.

Our Cancer Kids First chapters are recognized for the dedication and ambition they put into spreading our mission and making a difference. This year, Cancer Kids First is opening up the opportunity for new chapters to expand and contribute to our cause. We are opening up chapter applications for both school and regional districts.

The responsibilities of both school and regional chapters include hosting monthly events through our three service programs, partnering with hospitals, creating a supportive hospital environment for our patients, strengthening our youth-led community, and maintaining the integrity of CKF’s mission.

Eligibility Requirement: Applicants must be either a high school or college student committed to maintaining either a school or regional chapter. Both chapter categories must have a president, vice president, secretary, and a treasurer.

Chapters are required to dedicate 7-10 hours per week in fulfilling their leadership duties, and are also required to host monthly events.

We are SO excited to share this one. 🇺🇬🎗️

Cancer Kids First just wrapped our first quarter partnering with the Uganda Child Cancer Foundation, and seeing our name and logo attached to impact in a brand new country is something we genuinely can’t put into words. We worked with UCCF to revamp their art and play therapy room, building an infrastructure and funding activities that have transformed the childhood cancer experience for 500+ patients.

Our aligned partnership has translated into real, tangible impact this quarter: 🍽️ 45 nutritious meals served → 232 kids reached 🎨 43 art therapy sessions → 102 kids reached 🧸 54 play therapy sessions → 242 kids reached

Cancer treatment takes away almost every choice a child has: what happens to their body, their childhood experiences, the environments they’re allowed in. In the playroom, they get their choice back. Art and play therapy give kids a space to get creative, find love amongst art, and turns the hospital from a place of fear into a place that also holds joy.

One caregiver told us her daughter used to dread the same hospital meal every single day. Through our nutrition support, dinner is something to look forward to. One patient told us the playroom is the best part of her three months in treatment, because she gets to do schoolwork there and feel like a kid being celebrated, not just a patient being treated.

To every kid, every caregiver, every nurse in that playroom in Uganda, thank you for letting us be part of your story. We look forward to our continued partnership with Uganda Child Cancer Foundation. 🌍💛

One of the most meaningful parts of our Arts Program is seeing the impact that a simple letter or drawing can have on a child facing cancer🖼️💛

Recently, Broly’s mom shared this message with us:

“Broly absolutely loves receiving his letters. They have helped him realize just how loved and supported he truly is. Every single volunteer goes above and beyond with so much kindness and compassion.

Some take the time to write him the sweetest, most encouraging letters, while others spend so much time creating incredible drawings of his favorite characters. The love and effort put into each piece of mail is truly amazing.

These letters have brought so much joy to Broly during one of the hardest seasons of his life, and they have meant just as much to me as his mom. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts to every volunteer and to everyone at Cancer Kids First for making him smile and reminding him that so many people are cheering him on. We are beyond grateful for all that you do.”

Over the years, Cancer Kids First has delivered care packages filled with comfort, encouragement, and smiles to pediatric cancer patients around the world. While this program has since evolved, the impact remains in moments like these.

Seeing the joy on these patients’ faces reminds us why we started: to bring hope, connection, and support to children and families navigating some of life’s toughest challenges.
