CKF is showing up in more schools 💛🎗️

One of our favorite things to see is students bringing Cancer Kids First into their own high schools—starting chapters, building teams, and finding new ways to spread awareness about childhood cancer within their communities.

CKF chapters are about first and foremost IMPACTING MORE PATIENTS LOCALLY. They also give young people the opportunity to lead, to rally their classmates around a cause, and to build partnerships, fundraise, and advocate.

Seeing CKF represented in hallways, classrooms, club fairs, and campuses across the country reminds us what can happen when young people are given the space to lead. Here’s to redefining what youth leadership can look like—one school at a time!

Throughout 2026, CKF chapters across the country have been finding their own ways to support children battling cancer—from creating handmade cards and assembling care packages to organizing donation drives and delivering items directly to hospitals and families.💌📦

Every card written, package packed, and item donated is a reminder to a child that there is an entire community rooting for them.

We love seeing our chapters turn compassion into action—and we’re so proud of every student who has helped make these moments possible.

Do you know a child who has cancer? As Childhood Cancer Awareness Month comes to an end, Cancer Kids First is highlighting the three remarkable service programs that support the psychosocial development and mental health of patients.

1. Our Arts Program creates cards and art projects tailored for your child’s interests, providing them the motivation and encouragement during their hardest days.

2. Our Treatment Services Program collaborates with lower- and middle-income hospitals around the world by supplying medical resources and extensive training that will provide treatments for our patients in the long run. 

3. Our Patient Interaction Program strengthens social connections and friendships by hosting monthly virtual events specialized to the patient’s interests and needs.

Back-to-school season is officially in session, and we’re so excited to share patient Aurora’s reaction to her CKF school supply care package😁🚌

Aurora is a six-year-old diagnosed with Optic Pathway Gliomas BRAF mutation. Aurora’s mom shared, “Starting kindergarten while still going through cancer treatment has definitely made this school year look a little different for Aurora, so having people go out of their way to make it feel exciting and special means more than you know. She absolutely lit up going through the box and discovering everything inside. Thank you for thinking of her and for everything Cancer Kids First does to bring some extra happiness to kids going through treatment. We are so grateful.”

We do this annual event to give our volunteers a chance to sponsor and create cute school supply packages for patients, who often cannot afford to buy back-to-school items. This is another core part of their childhoods that are taken from them, but represents a gap that our incredibly artistic and generous volunteer network can address.

Let’s kick off the new school year with a CKF event!

Many families and patients struggle to afford appropriate school supplies on top of hospital bills. To help our pediatric cancer patients feel more prepared and confident, CKF is hosting a Back to School event. You can participate by constructing care packages filled with school supplies and goodies for kids with cancer. 📚✏️
