One year ago today, my life changed forever. I was lying in a hospital bed, preparing to receive a new kidney from an altruistic donor. A peace came over me that I could not explain. My prayers had been answered. 🙌🏽

Everything in my life had doubled. This journey doubled my faith. I now have three kidneys, and I gained a new sister, brother, and nieces. I cannot thank Jesus and Jenny enough. 🙌🏽

Since then, I’ve written a book about my journey and started a foundation to help others affected by kidney disease.

There is nothing I could ever do to repay the Lord or Jenny for such a selfless sacrifice. To commemorate this incredible milestone, we will host our first workshop on September 26, 2026! (The link to sign up is in the comments.)

This workshop will feature dietitians who will teach us how to eat during each stage of kidney disease, mental health therapists who will discuss how to cope with an unfavorable prognosis, and kidney warriors who have overcome kidney disease, are living with kidney disease, or are currently in need of a transplant.

You don’t want to miss this event! Seating is limited.

And as for this kidney today… it is out here doing the Lord’s work! 🙌🏽🙏🏽❤️

Our mission: To support kidney transplant recipients and donors by providing hardship resources, essential supplies and faith-based materials that nurture healing, restore strength & encourage spiritual growth. We also educate the public about kidney disease prevention, treatment, and organ donation to inspire life saving awareness.

Did you know? 🧬

Scientific research shows that many people of African ancestry, including African Americans, carry genetic variants linked to a higher risk of certain types of kidney disease. The most studied of these involves the APOL1 gene.

These APOL1 variants became common thousands of years ago because they helped protect against the parasite that causes African sleeping sickness. What once offered survival advantage can today increase kidney disease risk.

About 10–13% of African Americans carry the high-risk form of APOL1 (when two copies are inherited), which raises the likelihood of developing kidney disease.

Knowledge is power. Understanding genetics helps us take proactive steps toward prevention, screening, and early care. 💚
