Dear Community Members,
The Brevard County Medical Society is sharing an important public health alert regarding an ongoing E. coli outbreak linked to recalled frozen berries sold at Publix stores throughout Florida.
The affected products include:
• GreenWise Organic Whole Blueberries (10 oz and 48 oz)
• GreenWise Organic Whole Mixed Berries
If you have these products in your freezer:
• Do not consume them.
• Return them to Publix or dispose of them safely.
• Wash any containers, utensils, or surfaces that may have come into contact with the berries.
Symptoms of E. coli infection include severe stomach cramps, diarrhea (which may become bloody), nausea, vomiting, and fever.
Please seek immediate medical attention if you experience bloody diarrhea, severe dehydration, decreased urination, or significant weakness.
Young children, older adults, pregnant women, and individuals with weakened immune systems are at increased risk for serious complications.
We encourage you to review the attached infographic and share this information with family and friends to help keep our community safe.
Thank you for helping protect the health of Brevard County.
Sincerely,
Elizabeth Kolawole, MD, FAAMM, MRO
