“THE STORY OF THE THREE TRUE FOUNDERS OF MELBOURNE”
Introducing Marion Pellicano-Ambrose, wife, mother, teacher & author. She is past President of Melbourne Women's Club. She is also past President & Director of Education of Green Gables at Historical Riverview Village and currently on the board of South Brevard Historical Society.
Marion invites us to meet the three true founders of Melbourne, Discover the true story of Peter Wright, Balaam Allen and Wright Brothers, three remarkable men who tamed the Florida wilderness and made it their home.
In the 1860s and 70s, much of Florida’s interior was still dense, untamed wilderness — a mix of swamps, pine forests, scrub, and seasonal rivers that early settlers often described as “jungle.” This landscape was a barrier between established coastal towns and the interior, and it shaped the lives of pioneers, traders, and displaced people.
It was into this wilderness three determined men came seeking a new life.
