On Monday, June 15, members of Yamhill Chapter, NSDAR came together to walk the last kilometer for the NSDAR Junior Membership 5K, supporting the Helen Pouch Memorial Fund! Even though it was during the heat of the day, our walk was under lovely tree cover, with beautiful views, flora and fauna, and wonderful fellowship. Look closely and you'll see one of our own who couldn't walk with us, but she still was with us in spirit! Check out the beauty we got to share. We're all looking forward to taking another picture with our medals!

On June 14, 1777, Congress passed a resolution stating the flag of the United States would feature "13 stripes, alternate red and white" and "13 stars, white in a blue field, representing a new constellation".

President Woodrow Wilson issued a proclamation establishing June 14 as Flag Day in 1916. However, it wasn't until August 3, 1949, that President Harry S. Truman signed an Act of Congress officially designating National Flag Day.

🇺🇸 George Washington’s Inauguration as First President of the United States
On April 30, 1789, George Washington was inaugurated as the first President of the United States at Federal Hall in New York City, then the nation’s temporary capital. Chancellor Robert R. Livingston administered the oath of office.

Washington took the oath with his hand on a Bible held by Mr. Otis, Secretary of the Senate. John Adams was also present as the new federal government began operations under the Constitution, marking the start of the executive branch of the United States.

19 April 2026 - Yamhill Chapter members, with other Oregon Chapter members, were honored to participate in the "confetti brigade" celebrating the first American Revolutionary War Veterans Memorial on the west coast. The American Legion, and Oregon Sons of the American Revolution, worked for over 18 years - and the delay of covid - to bring this to fruition with the City of Beavertion. One very touching note: this last monument placed honoring the sacrifices of the very first veterans, completes this park. Please do take a moment to visit this park... it's glorious!
