Dear Friends,
As the winter solstice nears, this poem by our former board member, Jean Caspers, beautifully expresses how darkness and light alternate, and how even in the most difficult times there are glimpses, even rays, of light.
As the dark
hangs in the balance
with the light,
Luna
turns her face
to spring tonight.

At this pivotal moment in the year, let’s remember we are in community, and together we can accomplish more than we might ever expect. Thank you for joining with us so generously as we go forward with our best efforts to brighten the lives of others, and to share as we can.
As 2021 comes to a close, we wish to express our gratitude to all of you who have responded to our end-of-year or previous requests for donations, or who are lending support in other ways.
Any amount—small or large—will help to make the new year brighter and more hopeful for local people in need.
We send our warmest holiday wishes as the days begin to get longer and we look ahead to 2022!
Hillside Foundation Grant Supports Seniors
We are extremely fortunate and grateful to receive a major grant for 2022 from the Hillside Foundation to help senior citizens facing crises, undue hardship, and the challenges of isolation.
For the past eight years, grants from the Hillside Foundation have been instrumental in allowing us to assist individual seniors, as well as to develop and expand an outreach program for the elderly in our community.
Year by year, we continue to learn just how much giving a little can mean in the lives of elderly people who have limited or no emergency income, and who may have minimal social contact.
