Foothills Striders The Foothills Striders club in Maryville, Tennessee, promotes recreation and healthy lifestyles through running, hiking and biking.

The Foothill Striders club is a nonprofit organization in Maryville, Tennessee, established more than 20 years ago to promote recreation and healthy lifestyles among its members and to provide them with an outlet for community service. The club organizes various activities for the membership, including hikes, bike rides, runs, walks, backpack trips, whitewater-rafting excursions and picnics. The c

lub is dedicated to promoting the healthy enjoyment of the natural recreational resources of East Tennessee. A diverse group of area residents with a wide range of leisure interests make up the membership of the club.

• Members range in age from preteens to senior adults.
• The club organizes a variety of outdoor activities for the enjoyment of members.

Foothills Striders Scholarship Awardees!

The Foothills striders would like to extend a huge congratulations to the 2026 recipients of the annual scholarship.

Vienna Kate Kaschube and Campbell Drew Mizell are the 2026 recipients of a Foothills Striders’ Scholarship. The awards are given each year to two Blount County students, who have distinguished themselves academically as well as physically by participating in sport activities, such as cycling, hiking and/or running. Both Vienna and Campbell will receive a $3,000 scholarship from the Foothills Striders in the fall to assist with their upcoming college expenses.

Why Striders? Socializing and making friends (not on a phone) and exercise. Biking is low impact, aerobic or anaerobic, and can be done well into our senior years.

“My friend Sue Anne asked me to come ride with the group, and I am so thankful she did. It is hard to pick a favorite thing when it comes to the bike. The bike enables us to do whatever we wish. We can ride alone, or we can ride in a group. We can ride fast or slow. We can ride the roads or the greenbelts, or rails to trails. I enjoy them all.
