Holiday Closure – Riverside Cemetery Offices 🇺🇸

The Riverside Cemetery offices will be closed on Friday, July 3rd in observance of the July 4th holiday. This closure allows our staff dedicated time with their families.

We will resume regular office hours on Monday, July 6th.

🪿 Frankie & Blanche: Front‑Door Court Is Now in Session 🪿

Well… it’s happened. Frankie has officially brought Blanche of the Golden Geese to the front door for what can only be described as Goose Court.

And the photos say everything:

Exhibit A: Blanche stands at the door like she’s here to file a formal complaint. Frankie is beside her… but notice how he’s already leaning away, inching toward the exit like, “I don’t actually know this goose.”

Exhibit B: The moment he thinks no one is watching, he tries to leave her there. Just turns his back and starts walking off like, “Good luck, Blanche, hope it works out for you.”

Exhibit C: Blanche, unimpressed. Frankie, pretending he has no idea why she followed him here. Classic.

What are they trying to do?
Start mediation? File grievances? Demand emotional damages on behalf of the Chinese Crested ladies? Hard to say — but the drama is escalating.

Stay tuned. Goose Court is clearly in session, and Frankie is absolutely losing his case.

🪿 Frankie’s Ongoing Goose‑Girl Troubles… Caught on Camera 🪿

Our Goose Detective (GM) has been hard at work, and today’s photos tell a story all on their own.

Photo 1: Frankie, very clearly trying to sneak away… head low, steps quick, absolutely caught in the act. The look of a goose who knows he shouldn’t be doing whatever he’s doing.

Photo 2: Evidence of his “move‑out.” He’s relocating himself with great purpose — no forwarding address, no explanation, just gone. Classic Frankie.

Photo 3: And now? Suddenly he’s all innocence and sunshine, acting like he has no idea why anyone is upset… while standing proudly next to Blanche of the Golden Geese. Yes. Blanche. He has officially made his move.

Meanwhile, the Chinese Crested ladies are absolutely not amused. The younger Crested Goose is giving him the kind of side‑eye that could peel paint.

Ah, Frankie. The heart wants what it wants — even if it changes its mind every 48 hours.

We’ll keep you posted as this feathered soap opera continues to unfold.

Just a reminder: Riverside Cemetery Gates close at 8:00 pm.
This means that we will lock all Gates at 8:00 pm, however staff drives through the cemetery to ensure and remind visitors of the time and to ensure everyone is out at 8:00 pm.

🪿 Well… Guess Who’s in the Goose House AGAIN? 🪿

Yup — the committee was waiting for me at the door this morning, and they came with yet another formal complaint against Frankie. The looks on their faces said everything.

According to them, Frankie has once again crossed some mysterious line of goose etiquette, and they are demanding immediate action. Honestly… what is a Goose to do when he’s this popular?

The delegation stood there honking their case like seasoned diplomats, absolutely certain I should “address the situation” at once. Meanwhile, Frankie is off somewhere acting like he has no idea why everyone is upset.

Ah, the drama. The politics. The feathers.
Just another day at Riverside.

🌳 Thank You, Marshalltown — Riverside Stands Strong 🌳

Thank you to everyone who shared good thoughts and checked in after the June 18th storm. Your kindness and concern mean so much to us.

The storm was strong, but Riverside is strong too. We are grateful that the damage was not as severe as the derecho, and even more grateful that our Grounds Staff was able to safely accomplish the cleanup. They worked carefully through debris, branches, and standing water to make the cemetery safe again.

Because of the hazards left behind by the storm, we were not able to allow volunteers on the grounds — your safety will always come first. We truly appreciate the many offers to help. We only wish we could have had extra hands to tend to the flowers that were displaced by the wind.

Thank you, Marshalltown, for your steady support and for caring so deeply about this historic place. 💛

🌤️ Riverside Cemetery Gates Are Open Again 🌤️

We’re pleased to share that the gates at Riverside Cemetery are now open.
Our Grounds Staff has worked hard to clear debris and make the grounds safe and welcoming for everyone.

With the recent high winds, some flowers and personal items may have shifted or blown out of place. This movement was caused by the weather — not by staff. If you’re visiting a loved one, please allow a little extra time to relocate or straighten anything that may have moved.

You will also see our Grounds Staff out working to remove smaller limbs and tidy up remaining storm debris. If you happen to see them, a quick “thank you” goes a long way — they’ve truly put in the effort to care for this historic place.

Thank you for your patience, your kindness, and your continued respect for Riverside.

Raccoon Lock Installed! 🦝🔒 (Round 3… We Win!)
Victory is ours… at least for today.
The new-and-improved raccoon lock is officially installed, and the Wildlife Free Feed Box is back in business for our birds and fish.

The raccoons, however, have been politely informed that the buffet is closed.
(They did not take the news well. There were… looks.)

Thank you all for bearing with us while we upgraded from “regular lock” to “Fort Knox, but make it wildlife‑friendly.” We appreciate your patience as we stay one step ahead of our furry little masterminds.

Feed is now available again —
free for all… except the raccoons.
They know what they did.
