Over 28,000 meals packed it just under two hours! I was so thankful for Ashley, Stephanie, and Charlotte to make the drive to Des Moines this weekend to pack meals with Miss Mount Pleasant teen!
These meals packed today will not only go globally to different countries around the world where hunger is rampant, a portion will even stay locally to the Des Moines area to ensure that all people have access a nutritiously balanced meal.
This exact concept was one of the first service projects I remember doing as a young adult with my church group on Wednesday nights. So to think for over a decade now, I have been packing meals was a bittersweet moment.
My community service initiative stands on three main pillars. Through education, fundraising, a legislative change we can create a ripple effect in our communities to eliminate hunger one meal at a time.

A special thanks to the Downtown Iowa City Rotary for allowing me to come speak about my community service initiative today!
One of my core pillars for my community service initiative is education. Being able to educate the general public about food insecurity needs within their community, is how we are able to slowly eradicate hunger in the state of Iowa.

Corridor Heart Walk 2026❤️

The Miss America opportunity has partnered with the American Heart Association for the past couple of years, so it was such a joy to be able to walk in the corridor heart walk at Kinnick Stadium.

However, like many Americans, I have a personal relationship with heart health. My younger brother was diagnosed with a congelative heart defect at birth, and my grandfather passed away from a heart attack shortly after I was born. While heart disease is the number one killer in women, is also the silent killer in men.

It only takes one bystander, someone to learn hands, only CPR, learn the warning signs of a heart attack in women, and the ability to act quickly in an emergency. Take this as your sign to get certified in hands-only CPR, like I did a few years ago!

It’s Heart Walk time! Thank you so much to the American Heart Association for all of their amazing events and philanthropic endeavors, all to support heart health! Today, the Miss Cedar Valley Organization takes on the heart walk at Kinnick Stadium in Iowa City. Now, let’s go exercise our heart muscle!
