On February 21, IEEE Cedar Rapids Section leaders Vice Chair Shubhresh Jha and Treasurer Bruce Lindholm hosted an outreach booth at the University of Iowa Computing Conference (UICC). The tabling session spotlighted IEEE membership benefits, student opportunities, and the value of professional networking in engineering and computing.

We were also proud to support Professor Leon Tabak, longtime Cedar Rapids Section member and CS professor at Cornell College, who presented a thought-provoking panel titled:

“I, Robot and the Mythical Man-Month”

A writer of science fiction and the leader of one of the first large software projects saw what was coming. Prof. Tabak shared stories and essays from the dawn of computing, reflecting timeless insights from pioneers as we enter the age of AI.

Thanks to all the University of Iowa IEEE STUDENTS and faculty who stopped by to learn more about IEEE and the Computer Society.
