Hope for Stomach Cancer joins the family and loved ones of Carlos Luis Chavez Lira in mourning his passing on September 24, 2026, at the age of 70.

Carlos was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. His life touched multiple generations, and his memory will live on through the family he loved and the countless moments they shared.

Behind every loss is a person, a family, and a lifetime of memories. Today, we honor Carlos, celebrate his life, and extend our heartfelt condolences to everyone who knew and loved him.

May his family find comfort in the memories they hold close and the love that will always remain.

Kendle was told she had only months to live.

Decades after a gastric bypass, a tumor had been growing where no one could easily see it. By the time it was found, it was stage 4 stomach cancer.

She didn't accept that timeline. She found a new oncologist who would explore every option with her, and treatment has been shrinking her tumors.

Today, Kendle is choosing gratitude, making memories with the people she loves, and finding strength in community. 💜

Hope for Stomach Cancer joins the cancer community in mourning the heartbreaking loss of Dr. Rachna Shroff, a remarkable gastrointestinal oncologist, researcher, and patient advocate who dedicated her life to improving cancer care.

Dr. Shroff passed away at just 47 after being diagnosed with advanced adenocarcinoma, reportedly of likely gastrointestinal origin. The loss of someone who devoted her career to fighting the very disease she would ultimately face is especially heartbreaking.

Throughout her career, Dr. Shroff championed innovative treatments, expanded access to clinical trials, and mentored the next generation of cancer researchers. Even while facing her own diagnosis, she remained committed to advancing research, helping establish an endowed award to support young investigators in biliary cancer.

In a 2024 interview with ASCO, she shared her personal motto:
☀️ “If you can’t find the sunshine, be the sunshine.”

What a beautiful reflection of the life she lived and the hope she brought to so many.

Our hearts are with her husband, children, family, friends, colleagues, and the countless patients whose lives she touched. Her compassion, dedication, and contributions to cancer research will continue to make a difference for generations to come.

Rest in peace, Dr. Shroff. Thank you for being the sunshine. 💜
