Kollab Youth was proud to host a special Social Media Safety session with the Organization for Social Media Safety, led by Ed Peisner, National Director of Education.

Parents and guardians joined us to explore practical tools and strategies for navigating what young people experience online. As one participant shared, the session was “super relatable, timely, and really easy to digest.”

Meet three alumni building exciting futures:
CJ Calica — CVS Health Pharmacy tech in Training and gaining hands-on experience through the Healthcare Pre-Apprenticeship | Cal State LA Graduate - Criminal Justice Major

Kyla Tran — Studying Civil Engineering at Cal Poly SLO and gaining industry experience through her internship with PCL Construction.

Andrew Paredes — Studying Mechanical Engineering at CSULB while building experience through multiple internships with Trane Technologies and leading on campus.

From career exploration to college, internships, and leadership, our alumni are continuing to learn, lead, and create their own pathways forward.

Parents need to understand the potential risks of social media because it can expose children to cyberbullying, online predators, misinformation, and harmful or inappropriate content. Excessive social media use can also affect mental health, self-esteem, sleep, and academic performance. By staying informed, parents can help their children develop safe online habits, recognize warning signs, and use social media in a healthy, balanced way.
