Did you know St. Louis has a nonprofit furniture bank that takes donated furniture and home goods and gives them directly to local families?

From families rebuilding after the tornado to women escaping domestic violence and teens aging out of foster care, Home Sweet Home partners with 50+ local agencies to connect people in need with the essentials they need to feel safe and truly at home.

And you can help by donating your gently-used items! You can easily drop off donations at our Maplewood warehouse, and we also offer a pickup service for larger items (We currently have a 3-week wait time for pickups, so keep that in mind when you’re thinking about donating!)

We're running low on some household essentials, and we need your help!

Right now, our greatest needs are:
• Drinking glasses
• Frying pans
• Small kitchen appliances (especially microwaves, airfryers, and crockpots!)

These everyday items help families turn empty houses into functional homes. Without donations, families we serve may have to go without these basic essentials.

We are excited to welcome four interns from the University of Notre Dame to Home Sweet Home this summer: Fiona, Contessa, Anneka, and Klara!

These students are participating in NDBridge, an eight-week immersive summer service-learning program for rising sophomores. Through the program, students are placed in communities around the world to serve local organizations, conduct research focused on the challenges facing marginalized communities, and present their findings at the end of the summer.

At Home Sweet Home, they will primarily be helping welcome clients, guide them through our warehouse, and assist as they select furniture and household items for their homes. Their support will help ensure every client has a positive and empowering experience as they shop for the essentials they need.

We reject a lot of mattress donations.

Not because we don’t need them. We absolutely do. We provide more than 30 mattresses every week. But if a mattress isn’t in excellent condition, we won’t pass it along to a family.

A bed should feel clean, safe, and comfortable. That’s why mattresses are the one item we regularly purchase brand new for the families we serve.
