There are so many misconceptions about breast cancer that prevent women from seeking help or getting preventative screenings. We're happy to clear up these misconceptions with a round of Myth vs. Reality!

Myth:
“If I don’t have a family history, I don’t need to worry.”

Reality:
Many women diagnosed with breast cancer have no family history at all.

Myth:
“I don’t have to worry about breast cancer until I’m 40.”

Reality:
Breast cancer affects women of all ages. We’ve seen patients as young as their teens and early 20s.

If you have a weird feeling, a lump, or even just a hunch, it’s best to get checked. And Gateway to Hope can help! Fill out the form on our screening page for yourself or a loved one to get started: gthmo.org/screening

What is the perfect Mother's Day gift?

For the mothers we meet at Gateway to Hope — mothers fighting breast cancer — the perfect gift is not easy to come by, but it’s worth so much:

A day without thinking about medical appointments. All her bills paid without having to cut other necessities. More time with her family outside of the hospital.

This Mother's Day, honor your mom, grandma, best friend, or any special woman who has made an impact on you with a $25 donation to Gateway to Hope. Your gift will give peace of mind to another woman balancing breast cancer treatment with raising a family.

Every mother deserves to feel seen, honored, and supported. Happy Mother's Day to all the strong women in your life.

Every 90 minutes, a woman in Missouri is diagnosed with breast cancer.

More than 1/2 of these women will face impossible decisions, like choosing between critical care and keeping food on the table.

It doesn’t have to be this way.

A gift tomorrow, on , directly supports the individuals we serve, ensuring they don’t have to choose between basic needs and the care that could save their life.
