🎨🍂 A Little Creativity Goes a Long Way!

We had a craft day in our pet-friendly Day Shelter today, and what a great way to spend the afternoon!

One of our guests shared something that really stuck with us. Having the opportunity to do something creative helps take their mind off the challenges they’re facing. It’s relaxing and gives them something positive to focus on, even if it’s just for a little while.

Sometimes it’s the little things that make a big difference. A few bottles of paint, some craft supplies, good conversation, and a chance to forget about life’s worries for a bit.

Our pet-friendly Day Shelter is about so much more than providing a warm, safe place for people and their pets to spend the day. It’s also about giving people opportunities to connect, feel welcome, and enjoy the simple things that so many of us take for granted.

And just look at some of these creations! 🎃🍁❤️

Want to help us keep the creativity going?

We would love your support! Monetary donations can help fund future craft activities. Simply include “SHELTER CRAFT” in the memo of your donation so we can designate your gift to this initiative.

🎨 Art supply donations are also welcome! Supplies can be dropped off at Door E, The Salvation Army, 700 S. Riverfront Drive in Mankato, Monday through Friday, 9 AM–5 PM.

A little creativity can bring a whole lot of joy. Thank you for helping us make these opportunities possible!

October 2026 Community Impact

October was another month of showing up for our neighbors and providing help when it was needed most.

Through our Emergency Social Services program, we served 56 individuals across 40 households, providing $5,371.61 in direct cash assistance, along with help with housing stability, transportation, identification, and employment needs.

Our shelter welcomed 571 guest check-ins, provided 192 showers and 162 loads of laundry, and our Noon Feeding Program served 1,065 first meals throughout the month.

Behind every number is a person, a family, a story, and a need being met. We are grateful to our staff, volunteers, donors, and community partners who make these services possible.

Thank you for being part of the work happening right here in our community and becoming a part of their story ❤️

Christmas is a time for coming together, and nobody should have to spend the day alone. ❤️

This Christmas Day, our Salvation Army staff and their families will be in the kitchen preparing and serving a special sit-down meal for our community.

Whether you have nowhere to go, no plans for the day, or would simply enjoy a warm meal and some good company, there’s a place for you at our table.

Join us Christmas Day from 12:00–1:30 PM at The Salvation Army in Mankato, 700 S. Riverfront Drive, Door D.

Everyone is welcome! Please help us spread the word so those who could use a little extra warmth and fellowship this Christmas know they’re invited. ❤️🎄

🔔 GIVE WITH JOY! ❤️

We officially kicked off The Salvation Army’s 2026 Christmas Red Kettle Campaign today at River Hills Mall!

This year’s kettle goal is $625K and with the need in our community greater than ever, we’re counting on YOU to help us get there!

Our red kettles will be out beginning November 20, and we need volunteers to help fill those ringing shifts. Whether you can give an hour, an afternoon, or make it a family tradition, every minute you spend ringing makes a difference.

The money raised through our Red Kettle Campaign stays right here in our community, helping our neighbors with food, shelter, emergency assistance, and other essential services throughout the year.

🔔 Ready to ring? Scan the QR code in our photos and sign up today!

A huge thank you to everyone who joined us at River Hills Mall today to help kick off the season. We couldn’t do this without the generosity of our community, our volunteers, and the businesses that support us year after year.

Let’s fill those kettles, reach that $620,000 goal, and GIVE WITH JOY this Christmas season! ❤️🔔
