Partners for Housing

Partners for Housing provides shelter for homeless families and individuals, and helps them to secure economically viable long-term housing.

Partners for Housing is the parent agency of Welcome Inn, Theresa House and Union Street Place emergency shelters. Our mission is to provide shelter for families and individuals facing homelessness, and to help them secure economically viable long-term housing. Deep-rooted in the community for over 35 years, Partners for Housing is seasoned in the providence of housing for vulnerable populations.

The organization owns and operates a number of scattered site housing facilities that provide emergency, transitional and permanent affordable housing options to families and individuals facing homelessness, as well as at-risk individuals and families in Southern Minnesota.

The first half of 2026 has blessed us with many wonderful memories to look back on and be thankful for. We cherish every moment we get to serve our community and we are very proud to do so! Each day is a new opportunity to take steps towards our mission of guiding individuals and families on a path to housing stability. We are excited to see what the rest of this year has in store for us!

Hope you’re having a great start to your June! Please join us in thanking Mary Drummer of Stadium Heights at Minnesota State University, Mankato. For the past few years Mary has encouraged college students to donate anything they can’t take with them, which has left us with cars full of donations! Microwaves, food, trash cans, and plenty of clothes to bring to our friends at S.S. Boutique, it is always amazing to see what we are able to bring back for our shelter guests and clients❣️

Thanks to TOV Chiropractic, we had our lunch catered from Jersey Mike's Subs yesterday! Dr. Thomas gave our staff an in depth overview of the services they offer, and he also shared some shocking statistics. Did you know that most of us spend more money on veterinary care than we do for our own healthcare? Dr. Thomas also shared that most of us wait too long when it comes to taking care of our bodies, if this is something that rings true for you, don’t wait to schedule your appointment with their qualified staff!

We are very excited to announce our newest community partnership with our friends at Crumbl! Each week they roll out a new menu, and before they do that, they have to offload last week’s stock which is where we come in! The Owner of Crumbl Mankato is extremely gracious and passionate about giving back to our community, and he routinely makes cookie donation deliveries to local nonprofits like us ❣️🍪 We are very grateful to Crumbl’s staff for taking the time to make sure the cookies were soft and freshly frosted! With their generous donation, we were able to deliver cookies to each of our current shelter guests, and it was a great way to brighten everyone’s day 🥰 Be sure to stop by Crumbl anytime you need a pick-me-up!

Allow us to introduce our newest intern, Jade! She is double majoring in Social Work and Psychology at South Central College and plans to move on to getting her masters in Social Work after completing two bachelor’s degrees. When asked why she chose to intern with us, Jade shared that her lived experience and passion for housing rights for all aligned very closely with our mission and values here at Partners for Housing. She said that she “hopes to learn more about how to help others navigate homelessness with compassion, humility, and empathy.” Our staff are very excited to work with Jade over the next few months as she continues her education!

Our Main Office is closed today in observance of Memorial Day 🇺🇸 Each of our shelter locations remain open and fully staffed, even on holidays! We are very grateful to have a team full of dedicated staff ❣️

Let’s start off this Friday with a huge thank you to our friends at Union Presbyterian Church, St. Peter MN! They donated their time to help get shelter grounds ready for the Summer ☀️ They planted flowers, pulled weeds, washed windows, and more to ensure no spot was missed! We always appreciate their attention to detail and kindness, thank you again ❣️

We are very proud to promote KIA of Mankato’s “Mankato Car Credit” program! This program has three simple steps: Get pre-approved, continue with a full credit approval, and chat with an expert. Last week we were blessed to host a volunteer group from Fidium Fiber! Thanks to Greater Mankato Area United Way’s Annual Week of Action, we spent over an hour going through and reorganizing donations that we have received from community members. We are very grateful to these volunteers for giving up their afternoon to help out a local nonprofit ❣️ They were extremely motivated, and we spent the afternoon chatting about the services we provide and getting to know each other. Yesterday our Executive Director, Trisha Anderson, received the Service Above Self Award from the Greater Mankato Rotary 🥳 We are very proud of Trisha and all of the work she has done for the community over the years, and we can’t wait to see what she will continue to accomplish! We are also very grateful to Pam from WOW!Zone for sponsoring our table so our staff could attend the award ceremony ❣️
