Yesterday, we had the pleasure of welcoming Representative Patrick Biggins to one of Journey Found’s residential homes in East Hartford.
During our visit, we shared Journey Found’s story—how the organization was founded, the challenges and adversities we have faced, the accomplishments we are proud of, and the critical role state support plays in ensuring individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities have access to the services they need.
We discussed the growing need for funding and resources as the DDS waiting list for residential services continues to expand. We also had the opportunity to speak candidly about the realities of supporting individuals with complex needs, the challenges our teams navigate each day, and the resilience demonstrated by both our staff and the individuals we serve.
Most importantly, Representative Biggins was able to meet individuals in their home, hear our stories firsthand, and see the impact of community-based supports in action.

Thank you to the individuals who graciously welcomed us into their home. And thank you, Representative Biggins, for taking the time to visit, listen, and learn more about the important work being done every day at Journey Found.
We appreciate your support and look forward to continued collaboration as we work together to strengthen services and opportunities for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities throughout Connecticut.
