This unique event offers an opportunity to explore a nearly completed custom home and learn about the design principles, construction strategies, and collaborative process that brought this remarkable project to life.

Attendees will tour the residence while identifying key organic architectural design elements and strategies inspired by Frank Lloyd Wright's philosophy. The program will also provide continuing education opportunities, networking, and valuable insights into the collaboration between Genesis Architecture, Barenz Builders, and the project's team of contractors and consultants.

With construction nearing completion, this is a rare opportunity to experience the home before the owners take occupancy and to gain firsthand knowledge of the design and construction process.

Join the AIA Milwaukee Emerging Professionals committee for an ARE Study Session.

An AIA Wisconsin Emerging Professionals ARE Study Session at Lombardi Brewery in Milwaukee will bring together emerging professionals and ARE candidates for an evening focused on exam preparation, professional development, and networking.

The session will provide a relaxed environment for participants to review key ARE topics, share study strategies and resources, and discuss their experiences navigating the licensure process. Attendees will have the opportunity to learn from peers at different stages of the exams while building connections with others pursuing licensure.

The goal is to establish a repeatable format for ARE study sessions and create opportunities for similar events throughout the year. By offering regular, accessible study sessions in different settings, AIA Wisconsin Emerging Professionals can provide ongoing support for one another while strengthening the local emerging professional community.

This program reviews the information needed to spot and prevent the most common oversights in system selection, detailing, and installation. Participants will explore how different expansion joint systems function, gaining the knowledge to design with movement in mind and anticipate issues before they occur. Together we will review project case studies to demonstrate how to recognize potential pitfalls, make informed product choices, and create details that support lasting functionality and promote improved trade coordination.

Join AIA Milwaukee and CSI Milwaukee Chapter for a social, dinner, and presentation by Keith Besserud, AIA, AI Director at EXP.

Artificial intelligence is evolving from a tool that responds to instructions into agents that can pursue goals, make decisions, and perform complex tasks. This shift raises interesting questions about the future of architectural and engineering practice. This talk examines AI agents through the lens of professional agency: how architects and engineers exercise judgment, delegate authority, develop expertise, and remain accountable for consequential outcomes.

Attendees will learn about potential implications for labor, professional development, subject-matter expertise, firm knowledge, and emerging competition from AI-augmented stakeholders. A practical agent example will be shared to illustrate how human domain expertise, firm data, and AI can combine to improve professional judgment. The talk will conclude with a number of very basic actions firms can take today to begin implementing a strategic plan.
