November is Lung Cancer Awareness month. Part of our mission is creating awareness... awareness of the need for funding, awareness that it can affect anyone, awareness that we need to continue sharing our personal stories... It's often hard to enter the holiday season knowing someone's special smile or laugh will not be seen or heard, but surely, they will be felt in our hearts... THANK YOU Karol's Kure for your continued support!

A daughter, sister, wife, mother, Nana, friend, Karol Thousand was a beautiful, and warm-hearted soul. She was fun-loving, witty, generous, and kind. We only had 6 short months with Karol after the lung cancer diagnosis, but we made the most of every moment. During that time, Karol attended Sophie’s Spaghetti Dinner sponsored by the Jodi Lou Foundation. She immediately knew this was something she wanted to be a part of. Since fall of 2015, her family has honored her wishes by hosting “Karol’s Kure”, a night of cards, food, family, fun and fundraising. We have been able to make a modest donation to the Jodi Lou Foundation each year supporting lung cancer research. We decided that Karol’s Kure would be virtual this year but we will still support the Jodi Lou Foundation and their wonderful work, and we encourage others to join us.

It has been a challenging year for so many and our hearts go out to those battling Covid and all the families that have and are still fighting lung cancer. Due to the pandemic, we were forced to cancel our fundraising events, but our support has never wavered.

In honor of Lung Cancer Awareness month we are reaching out to all our loyal supporters asking for you to once again support us in our fundraising goals for UW Carbone Cancer Center. If you would have bought a pie mothers’ day weekend, a $10 raffle ticket, or a ticket for the spaghetti dinner, we’re asking you to think about donating now! Please donate below, or go to our website www.jodilou.org and select the donate button. Share with your friends and family and help us reach our goal of raising $30,000. Watch for posts all month long and feel free to share your stories with us!

We are grateful for the volunteers who make our events a successful, for all of our sponsors and donors, and especially all the participants who ride to give hope and eat spaghetti with Sophie!
