Michael Johnson was more than a supporter of Focused Interruption he was a thought partner in its very conception.
From the earliest days of our organization, Mike believed deeply in investing in people, strengthening communities, and creating opportunities for those most impacted by violence, trauma, and hardship.
His guidance, encouragement, and unwavering commitment helped us expand our reach and deepen our impact throughout the city of Madison, WI.
Mike understood that lasting change happens when people come together to care for one another, and his support was instrumental in building the foundation that continues to serve countless individuals and families today.
On a personal level, Mike was a dear friend and brother to me.
He was someone I could turn to for advice, perspective, and encouragement in the hard moments and the good ones alike. Mike had a rare and beautiful ability to make people feel valued, heard, and supported.
Our friendship was built on trust, kindness, and a genuine love for others.
I will always be grateful for the conversations we shared, the lessons he taught through example, and the steadfast brotherhood he offered over the years.
His presence in my life made me a better leader, a better friend, and a better person.
While Mike's passing leaves a tremendous void in our community, his legacy will live on through every life he touched.
His dedication to those in need, his belief in the power of community, and his commitment to lifting others up will never be forgotten.
As we mourn his loss, we also celebrate the extraordinary example he set for all of us.
