During times of uncertainty, it can be tempting to turn inward and believe you have to carry every burden on your own. Asking for help is not a reflection of weakness, nor does it diminish your strength or character.

The reality is that most challenges are overcome with the support of others. Some of life's difficulties may be outside of our control, yet they can still create stress, anxiety, and uncertainty.

Many veterans remember that during difficult moments in the military, we relied on one another. Sometimes support came through action, and sometimes it came simply from knowing another person was there beside us in the fighting hole.

That lesson still applies today. You do not have to face challenges alone. Support is available, and reaching out is a sign of courage.

If you're struggling, connect with someone you trust, a fellow veteran, or a community resource. Help often begins with a single conversation.

We’re excited to be putting together the Washburn County Job Fair in June with our partners at the Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development and Workforce Resource, Inc.!

Veterans. Service. Sacrifice.

When we talk about “homeless” or “at-risk” veterans, it’s important to understand what that really means. For some, it may be living without stable housing. For others, it’s being one unexpected setback away from losing stability — whether due to employment challenges, financial strain, or limited support systems.

In Southern Wisconsin, including Dane County and Rock County, there are many organizations — from the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs to local community partners — working every day to support veterans.

And that work matters.

At the same time, we know there are still veterans facing barriers and navigating crisis. That’s why continued collaboration, outreach, and community awareness are so important.

At VRSI, we remain committed to connecting veterans with employment, resources, and support that promote long-term stability.
