Together, we can prevent child abuse! Prevent Child Abuse Jefferson County is dedicated to preventing child abuse and neglect, and

is committed to making Jefferson County a better, safer place for Indiana's most precious resources - our children. With strong support of volunteer Prevention Councils throughout the state, we work together to:

• Increase awareness of the problem and inform communities about solutions.

• Serve as a valuable resource for families, individuals and organizations.

• Advocate for expanded and improved programs and policies to prevent child abuse.

• Foster a statewide network committed to child abuse prevention. Suspected child abuse or neglect should be reported to Child Protective Services (CPS). They operate a 24-hour, 7-day a week hotline: 1-800-800-5556. There is also a local number for every county listed at the CPS website http://www.in.gov/dcs/2372.htm

Indiana has a Bureau of the Ombudsman, and they have “…the authority to receive, investigate and attempt to resolve complaints concerning the actions of the Department of Child Services (DCS) and to make recommendations to improve the child welfare system. Doctor Matthew McRoberts is very pleased to announce that he will be opening a new pediatric clinic at 311 Clifty Drive in Madison, Indiana in November 2025. Dr McRoberts has had a vision for Madison Pediatric Wellness Clinic for quite some time. He and his family have been a part of this community for 6 years, and they care deeply for the children and families who call Jefferson County home. Dr McRoberts will be joined by Dr Diamond Harris, Nurse Practitioner Susan Berns, Physician Assistant Aaron Carlson and Nurse Practitioner Morgan Liter.

MPWC will offer comprehensive medical care for children and teens from birth to age 20 with a focus on care that is expert, compassionate, and sensitive to the diverse needs of children in Jefferson County.

We are thankful to be able to announce this move today, August 28, on what would have been Caroline McRoberts’ 12th birthday. Caroline is the beloved youngest daughter of the McRoberts family. Her battle with cancer and her experience with the medical system have informed Dr McRoberts’ approach to practicing medicine. It is our hope that MPWC will be place where every child and family feels safe, welcomed, and heard. While this dream has been a long time coming for Dr McRoberts, it has been driven to fruition by his conviction that all children in Jefferson County deserve access to excellent medical care and wellness services and by a desire to share Caroline’s legacy of kindness and bravery with our community.

We will be sharing more details in the coming days and look forward to serving you and your families with excellence and compassion. Thank you for your patience and understanding as we make this transition, and please know we are working hard to make this a very special place.
