CASA of Jefferson County Releases Final Results of Two-Year Federal Grant, Demonstrating Significant Program Growth

CASA of Jefferson County has completed its two-year Victims of Crime Act (VOCA) grant cycle, reporting significant achievements in child advocacy, volunteer recruitment, and professional development between October 1, 2024, and September 30, 2026.

The grant, administered through the Indiana Criminal Justice Institute (ICJI), provided $195,694.35 in the first year and $189,914.35 in the second year, totaling $385,608.70 in federal funding. The program also documented an estimated $115,330 in volunteer service value, calculated using a rate of $20 per hour.

In observance of Indigenous Peoples’ Day, the CASA of Jefferson County office will be closed today.

Today, we recognize and honor the history, cultures, traditions, and contributions of Indigenous peoples and communities.

Our office will reopen during regular business hours tomorrow. ❤

When people think about CASA, they often picture a volunteer sitting in a courtroom advocating for a child. Court hearings are an important part of a child welfare case—but they are only a small part of the work. In fact, much of CASA advocacy happens during the days, weeks and sometimes months between court hearings.

Another fantastic Creative Community class last night with our Volunteers, Staff and Board! We had such a blast making these fall themed decorative signs at Little Golden Fox . Cara Davis Fox is such a blessing to our team for her creative inspiration and her heart for allowing space for our team to relax and enjoy time together. It means so much to get together in a beautifully welcoming space and catch up with one another about things outside of the heavy casework we all do every day. Thank you to Cara and to Indiana Youth Institute for making this possible!

Next month we will meet for a half day Holistic Wellness workshop at Studio Be with Jessie Lackner from MAD REIKI and then two more classes left before we wrap up this amazing Youth Worker Wellbeing grant from IYI ! We are so incredibly grateful for all of this support! It makes our team healthier and better able to focus in on the task at hand, ensuring that every child in the cases we serve is provided a safe and caring adult advocate who will do everything possible to make sure that their voices are heard and they have a better future in our community.

We’re getting ready for one of our favorite Madison traditions! 🍲

CASA of Jefferson County will be at Soup, Stew, Chili & Brew Festival on October 10, 2026, and we’re bringing some seriously good food with us.

On our menu:

🥣 Chrissy’s Famous Taco Soup
🌶Smoked Sausage, Peppers & Onions
🍫 Marla’s Famous Texas Sheet Cake

Come downtown, grab something good to eat, and spend the day supporting CASA and other local nonprofit organizations participating this year.

Events like this are such a great reminder of just how much good is happening right here in our community—and we love getting to be a small part of it!
