Bentley Farms Great Dane Rescue This 501c3 rescue is dedicated to our beloved Bentley. He bloated on an empty stomach and had torsion; he passed on the way to the emergency vet.

💜 MEET ATHENA! 💜

Athena is a beautiful 15-month-old Great Dane looking for a new forever home. She is a big girl at approximately 120 pounds, and she has so much love to give! 🐾

Athena came to her family as an 8-week-old puppy and has had formal two-week live-in training. She is house trained, crate trained, knows her commands, and has been well socialized in public.

✨ About Athena:
🐾 15 months old
🐾 Female Great Dane — AKC
🐾 Approximately 120 lbs
🐾 Up to date on vaccines
🐾 Not yet spayed
🐾 House trained
🐾 Crate trained
🐾 Knows sit, come, wait & all done/release
🐾 Good with children and absolutely LOVES snuggling with them ❤️
🐾 Good with strangers — may bark initially but warms up very quickly
🐾 Loves playing, running outside, sleeping, eating and car rides! 🚗
🐾 No food aggression
🐾 Does not guard toys
🐾 No known health issues or allergies
🐾 No anxiety
🐾 Rides great in the car and does not get sick

Athena does have one very important requirement for her new home: NO SMALL ANIMALS. She has had two serious biting incidents with the family’s 5-lb Morkie. Because of this, she needs a home without small dogs or other small animals. Her family tried to keep the two dogs apart but the small dog slipped past the barrier and was hurt very badly. Athena seems to have prey drive with smaller animals. Her compatibility with other dogs will be carefully evaluated.

She has not been tested with cats, and her family strongly doubts she would be appropriate around chickens or farm animals. Small animals are a definite trigger and must be avoided.

Athena isn’t very leash trained because she has lived on a large farm, so her new family will need to continue working with her on that skill. She does have a fenced yard and enjoys having room to run.

Her perfect home would be a family with children and possibly other appropriately sized dogs, but absolutely no small animals.

Athena’s family is providing her veterinary records, toys and her collar.

Another shout out to Randy and his partner! Randy slipped away from the rescue yesterday afternoon to do a Night Fishing Tournament at Lake Anna. They took First place as a team and Randy snagged the biggest fish again!! Weekends are crazy here with visitors, intake and adoptions but I was able to wing it alone so he could do his favorite thing! Lots of give and take since we have so much responsibility with the rescue.

It's been a few days… look at Echo and Bravo! These boys are growing and filling out. I do think their growth will be stunted a bit due to the severe emaciation. Definitely taking huge steps to a healthy happy life. They are so fun!!

Nova is a beautiful 5-year-old girl who has spent TWO YEARS waiting for someone to choose her at KY River Regional Animal Shelter. 😔

💙🐾 MEET ECHO & BRAVO — BONDED BROTHERS LOOKING FOR THEIR FOREVER HOME! 🐾💙

These two handsome boys have been through a lot, but they are finally learning what it feels like to be safe, loved, and cared for. Now we’re looking for a forever home where they can continue to thrive together. ❤️

Echo & Bravo
📍 Luray, VA
🐾 10–11 months old
💙 Brothers — Dane/Mastiff mixes
⚖️ Bravo: approximately 64 lbs | Echo: approximately 74 lbs
💉 Up to date on vaccines
🩺 Vet records available
❤️ Heartworm negative
🦟 Lyme positive — currently being treated

These boys came to us severely emaciated, but thankfully their bloodwork does not show any organ damage. They are working hard to put on healthy weight and are doing so well!

✨ About the boys:
• Great with kids
• Great with strangers
• Both LOVE people!
• Good with dogs they have met, including our male Great Dane and female Cocker Spaniel
• They did not care for our female mini Goldendoodle, so proper introductions with other dogs are important
• Cats — unknown
• Crate trained — they sleep in their crates
• Doing great with house training — no accidents in 2 weeks with access to a doggy door!
• Doggy door trained
• Good on leash, although they pull a little
• Love to play!
• LOVE treats!
• No history of bites to people or animals
• No toy guarding
• Bravo does not like other dogs approaching while he is eating and can be possessive of high-value treats, so he should be fed separately and managed appropriately
• No known food allergies
• No known environmental allergies
• Great in the car — no car sickness
• Comfortable with steps
• They currently have access to a fenced yard

These boys are silly, playful, loving young dogs who deserve a family willing to continue helping them grow into the amazing dogs we know they can be. 🥰

They have already come so far, and watching them discover toys, treats, playtime, and the simple joy of being loved has been incredibly rewarding. ❤️

Tom is a Great Dane and Jerry is a brindle mix, and these two are a bonded pair who found themselves together in a kill shelter in Texas. 💔

Thankfully, their story is changing! ❤️ They are currently on their way to Bentley Farms Great Dane Rescue, where we will give them the care, love, and safety they need while we work to find them their forever home. 🏡
