We are a nonprofit organization in Lowell, MA with the sole purpose of making the waterways of our city healthier. We organize monthly volunteer events from April to October and provide volunteers with the tools necessary to remove litter, invasive species, and other problematic elements from our canals, rivers, and brooks. We have been active in these efforts since 2004 and attract a diverse rang

e of volunteers from throughout the city. We are happy to provide a unique volunteer opportunity for individuals, groups, and organizations.

Join us for a bright and lively Saturday morning on July 20th, from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm, as we roll up our sleeves for a community cleanup along the scenic lower Western Canal near Hickey Hall Dam! We'll gather at the corner of Hall Street and Suffolk Street, ready to tackle trash and invasive plants together. Come prepared in sturdy shoes, and don't worry, we'll supply gloves, pickers, and all the tools you’ll need. Let’s make a visible difference and enjoy some fresh air, teamwork, and good company while we restore the canal’s beauty. We hope to see you there, ready to lend a hand and brighten our neighborhood!

The cleanup season will start on Saturday morning, May 2nd, at Ecumenical Plaza on Suffolk Street. Our cleanups are always 9 am till noon, wear sturdy shoes, we will provide gloves and equipment. We will be cleaning the canal banks in preparation for the Points of Light Lantern Celebration that will be held Saturday night. It's a great festival where they release hundreds of lanterns into Lowell's beautiful, historic canal.

The following is the schedule for this year's cleanups.

May 2nd Ecumenical plaza at Suffolk Street

June 20th To Be Determined probably Moody Street

July 18th Mack Plaza in preparation for the Folk Festival

August 15th TBD

September 26th National Public Lands Day location TBD

October TBD possibly along the Merrimack river behind the arena, depending on river height

We will be having a rare, repeat cleanup this weekend. As always, we will be joined by the Lowell Litter Krewe, and the Lowell National Historical Park. Consider joining us at the corner of Hall and Suffolk, alongside the historical Wannalancit mill. This is a beautiful stretch of canal, that is off the beaten path, it even has a waterfall. It's worth your time just to partake in the beauty of this canalway. We will be clearing invasives, and a little trash, starting at the urban waterfall and working our way downstream to the river, and if the river levels permit, we be removing some big items from the banks of the Merrimack. The weather will be perfect, c'mon down...

Pre Folk Festival cleanup this coming Saturday morning! The cleanup is at Mack Plaza, on the corner of Market St and Shattuck St Saturday 9 am till noon. Help us beautify the canal locks and banks of in Historic Downtown Lowell. This canal runs along the trolley tracks. Wear sturdy shoes, gloves and gear will be provided. And please visit the Downtown the following weekend for the biggest party of the year! Mark the Lowell Folk Festival on your calendars...
