It's time for an Alumni Spotlight!

Meet Shamir Rivera-Quintal who has called Lowell home her entire life. Shamir grew up in four different Lowell neighborhoods, attended C.G. McDonough Arts Magnet School and Lowell High School, and is now raising her own family here.

A graduate of Lowell High’s Latin Lyceum program, Shamir has always been deeply connected to her community through education, culture, and service. Her lived experience as a lifelong Lowellian continues to inspire her work and her commitment to helping the next generation thrive.

The 7th Annual Lowell High School Career Speaker Week is coming up the week of March 30, and we’re excited to invite Lowell High School alumni from every career path to participate.

This annual event connects current students with alumni who share their experiences, insights, and advice about different professions, inspiring students to explore new possibilities for their future. Whether you’re just starting out or well into your career, your journey can make a difference.

Our goal this year is to reach 100 speakers, representing a wide range of industries — from healthcare and education to technology, trades, and the arts. By giving just one class period of your time, you can help students see what’s possible beyond the classroom.

💼 Join us this spring and give back to the community that helped launch your own path to success. Sign Up Today: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSesUYwpQWkG5QYGoFrr2qUktPEsy1veJ2zBDvw8KN-nYKshEA/viewform

At 16, Jack Kerouac made Lowell proud by scoring the winning touchdown in the 1938 Thanksgiving Day game against Lawrence High, a moment that still inspires our community today. His talent drew attention from college scouts, yet Jack chose to pursue academics and athletics on scholarship at Columbia University.

Stories like Jack’s remind us why supporting Lowell students through the Lowell Schools Fund is so important—helping nurture the talents and dreams of our youth.

Lowell High School opened its doors in 1831, making it one of the nation’s first public co-educational and integrated high schools.

From classrooms by the Merrimack Canal to today’s evolving campus, LHS has paved the way in public education for almost two centuries.

Through the Lowell Schools Fund, we’re committed to keeping Lowell students engaged and supported. Help us reach our goal of opening doors and creating opportunities for generations to come: https://secure.qgiv.com/for/thelowellschoolsfund

We’re excited about the progress at Lowell High School as part of their ongoing renovation project.

Their new culinary space is designed with modern equipment and aesthetics that rival top restaurants. Adjacent to the kitchen, teachers and staff now enjoy a brand-new lounge area for breaks, enhancing comfort and community.

These updates are part of a broader transformation delivering fully renovated spaces across the campus, helping to create an environment where students and staff can thrive.

Let’s keep the momentum going for Lowell High School students—supporting opportunities today to open doors for tomorrow.
