This October, we're joining forces with to turn National Feral Cat Awareness Day into , a time to learn more about feral and community cats, the challenges they face, and how even small changes can make a huge difference.

These cats may live outdoors and have limited contact with people, but they are still an important part of many communities and deserve care and compassion.

One of the most widely used approaches for managing feral cat populations is trap-neuter-return (TNR). Through TNR programs, cats are humanely trapped, spayed or neutered, vaccinated, and returned to their outdoor homes. Through surgical sterilization, TNR reduces feral cat numbers without culling or disrupting stable cat colonies.

National Feral Cat Awareness Month is also an opportunity to learn how to safely interact with community cats, support local TNR efforts, and recognize when a cat may need additional help.

Catster has compiled its resources on feral cats, TNR, community cat care, and related topics to make it easier to find reliable information and learn more about helping cats living outdoors.

He sits beside a rain-darkened wall with a torn ear, dusty fur and the steady gaze of a cat who has survived more than we will ever know. None of that makes his life worth less.

A stray is not part of the scenery or a problem to be ignored. He feels cold, hunger and fear, and he also feels the relief of clean water, a safe shelter and a patient hand.

Every vulnerable cat is someone. When we notice them, contact a rescue or offer practical help, we are treating a living soul with the dignity they deserved all along.

We LOVE black cats!!! 🐈‍⬛🧡

October is Black Cat Appreciation Month! 🐈‍⬛🖤 Sadly, black cats are often the last to be adopted, partly because of old superstitions. But there’s nothing unlucky about these mini panthers so lets give them all the love they deserve. And if you have a black kitty, remember to keep them extra safe during the spooky season!
