On June 5, the Healthcare Businesswomen’s Association’s Women in Healthcare Give Back dedicated a day of pickleball at Centercourt Sports in Chatham, NJ to benefit The Floating Hospital and our health education summer camp experiences. Every summer, more than 100 children in temporary housing attend our intensive weeklong camps—Journey, SOAR, and Camp Rise Up—where they build resilience as they learn about themselves in classrooms and outdoor adventures.

It was a lovely day in Jackson Heights for the Queens Pride Parade and Multicultural Festival, and The Floating Hospital was honored to continue our participation this year. Our message is always: “Everyone is Welcome” in our clinics, and we declared it on banners, paddles, and t-shirts to show support for all the community members in Queens. Our staff also hosts a table at the afternoon multicultural festival every year to share vital health information.

On June 2, we celebrated 160 years at the Edison Ballroom with both style and purpose as generous supporters responded with full hearts and raised paddles to the urgent humanitarian needs of families facing homelessness in our city. We are grateful to our donors, sponsors, benefit committee, staff, volunteers, and everyone who contributed to make last night a turning point in the lives of our patients. We couldn't have done it without the help of our MC, Monica Morales, and auctioneer, Harry Santa-Olalla. A huge thank you to all.

NYC faces a humanitarian crisis, as record numbers of families lose their homes to domestic violence and eviction. On June 2, be part of a select community rising to the challenge. On 4/29, our staff wore jeans to work to mark Denim Day, a chance to support Sexual Violence Awareness Month.

The campaign began as a response to the overturning of a r**e conviction by the Italian Supreme Court, because the victim was wearing tight jeans that the court ruled she must have removed herself to help her assailant. Women in the Italian Parliament wore jeans to work the next day to protest the verdict. The protest made international news and it’s been observed ever since.
