ANNOUNCEMENT FROM AIFB EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR:
Friends,
We are heartbroken to announce that after 15 years we must close down the AIFB foundation due to the policy conflict between the United States and Afghanistan. We want to thank you for your unwavering support for our mission to help the foundation grow and develop in many ways. You helped us with finances, volunteer work, and useful advise along the way. In particular I'd like to thank those of you who were part of our advisory board in the past and gave of your time and expertise to our mission.
Because of efforts of people like you the AIFB was able to improve the level of education from kindergarten to higher education in the blind community of Afghanistan. We also were able assist blind individuals with health and medical services. We provided equipment, such as braille machines, walking canes and other technological aids relating to blindness. We also provided clean water for The Kabul High School for the Blind. In addition we supported the publication of a Braille edition of the Quran. And also during Covid 19 we supported children with food and other supplies.
These efforts come with your great financial support and on behalf of AIFB sincerely appreciate each one of your contributions. We are sad to let the foundation go but we hope the future will give us an opportunity to do more for the blind community in Afghanistan.

With all gratitude,

Nooria N

AIFB is currently holding a GoFundMe fundraiser (link in bio) to fund our current project to provide 250-300 prescription eyeglasses to underserved visually impaired patients in Kabul, Afghanistan through Eyes Professional Hospital, a hospital associated with Kabul Medical University. Your donation will help these patients get a vision exam and obtain prescription eyeglasses specific to their eyes. Any amount donated is appreciated and will make an impact. Thanks in advance for your generous contribution to this great cause and follow us as we complete this goal.

It is very heartbreaking to see what’s going on in Afghanistan. My home country is bleeding. The Taliban brutality has started in some of the provinces of Afghanistan and the World is just watching as it continues. The provinces that are under Taliban’s control, Taliban took homes from the civilians, and they displaced the families from their own homes. Currently the families are living on the streets in these hot summer’s day without fans and food. I am calling on the World please stand with Afghanistan, especially I am calling on the UN & UNICIF please take actions on what the Taliban’s are doing to women, children, men, and to all people in Afghanistan. The Taliban must stop the brutality in Afghanistan. For 40 years Afghanistan has witness of many lost and disabled children, women, men and young generation. It is time for the world to stop violence among each other because these Afghans children and adults deserve a better life like the rest of the people around the World. Let’s join together and bring peace to my country. UNICEF AfghanistanUNICEF

Afghanistan International Foundation for the Blind this time needs your support. This foundation was established in 2009 to support blind people in Afghanistan. This year we have a project to provide 250 people in Afghanistan with eye glasses. For each pair, $2 given will be used to purchase a frame and every $25 for a pair of lenses. This $25 US dollars in Afghanistan converts into 2000 Afghanise, the local currency, which is a lot and goes a long way to restore the vision of one individual! Our goal is to raise $7,000. Right now we are trying for 25 pairs of glasses and then we will gradually increase that number. This project will need to be completed by November 2021 with the partnership of the Department of Ophthalmology of Kabul University Medical of Science.

These glasses will contribute to people who cannot afford to purchase the glasses themselves. It will be for adults, children, and women. As you see, with $2 or $25, you can help restore a person's vision! I hope you or your friends or anyone from your networks will be able to help the AIFB foundation.

Hello Everyone,

I trust this finds you all in good health. As most of you know, I am the founder of the non-profit organization that supports blind individuals in my native country of Afghanistan. This foundation was created in 2009. In the beginning, this foundation was supporting blind women and children which was called the Afghanistan Blind and Women Children Foundation. However, in 2017, the board of directors of the organization decided to change the mission and the vision of this organization in order to support the larger blind community of Afghanistan. Afghanistan has over 400,000 blind people and this is the highest rate of blindness in the world. Unfortunately, war and poverty exacerbate the number.

Currently, the name of the foundation is the Afghanistan International Foundation for the Blind. Since 2017, the AIFB foundation worked hard to provide accurate services to this very vulnerable community of Afghanistan. This year, the board of directors decided to assist blind individuals with prescriptive eyeglasses which comes down to your generosity and support. The goal of the AIFB for this project is to raise $7,000. It is my great hope that all of my colleagues, friends, and family members will help me to achieve this goal.

For more information on how to contribute your donation and support, please visit: https://www.gofundme.com/f/eyeglasses-for-visually-impaired-in-afghanistan/ and support our project. Each dollar that you donate will help one blind individual to restore their vision by purchasing prescriptive eyeglasses.

I sincerely appreciate everyone's contribution in advance and looking forward to receive your response.

With all gratitude,

Nooria

A special thanks to our student intern who assisted and helped us for the past 4 months, Ms. Nguyen. She joined us from Australia to learn about Non-profit organization and she was very intelligent, quick learner, and very dedicated individual. During her internship with us, she was able to do a remarkable fundraising through Facebook and Go Fund Me which allowed the AIFB Foundation to raise money for the blind children nutrition in COVID-19 and we were able to support 75 children for nutrition in Afghanistan. With the effort of Ms. Nguyen, we were able to include our social media and thanks to her, we have many followers on our Facebook and in our social media, we have great connection with LinkedIn and Twitter supporters. Ms. Nguyen helped us to write letter of partnerships with national and international organizations, as well as writing grant proposals for the AIFB Foundation. The AIFB Foundation sincerely appreciated her hard work and wish her prosperity, success in her future and many great opportunities in the future. We are hoping we will be in touch with her in the future and also if there are other international students, who want to do internship with us and gain the experience with non-profit organization, please reach me via email or phone call. Once again thanks you Nguyen for all your work and we all love you.
The AIFB Team.

Dearest friends, colleges and family members

Please allow me to express my deepest appreciation and gratitude for your contribution and support of the AIFB Foundation's children project which was sending nutrition, personal protective materials to the blind children in Afghanistan. With your generosity, the AIFB foundation was able to send an amount of 4,300 USD to support blind children with good quality raw materials (such as flour, rice, oils, beans, soap, gloves, and masks). We sincerely appreciated your donation and we will inform you about our next projects shortly.

The AIFB Foundation has to plan to obtain the goals: One is providing the prescription eyeglasses for blind people or providing computer technology training for college students in Afghanistan. Of course, we need our donors and supporters to support soon.

Again, we appreciate everyone's support and good deed. Looking forward to working together to enhance the quality of lives for the blind individuals in Afghanistan. With gratitude.

Truly yours
Nooria Nodrat
President of the Afghanistan International for the Blind (AIFB Foundation).
