The Backpack Program of Laurel County is honored and grateful to announce a generous gift of $18,000 from the Eli Hill Foundation. This donation will directly help fight childhood food insecurity across our community.

The significance of this gift carries special meaning, as 18 was Eli’s jersey number, making this donation a meaningful tribute to his life and legacy.

The Eli Hill Foundation Inc. was established to honor the life of Eli Hill by continuing the compassion, generosity, and servant-hearted kindness he showed to others every day.

One of the most meaningful reflections of who Eli was can be found in the simple acts of kindness that defined him. Stories have been shared of Eli providing snacks to classmates, friends, and even strangers, often quietly and without seeking recognition. Whether sharing food at school or at a ballgame, Eli consistently looked for ways to share with others.

Today, that same spirit lives on through this partnership.

The Backpack Program of Laurel County works to ensure children facing food insecurity have access to meals and nutritious snacks outside of school hours. Each week, the program provides bags filled with food that discreetly go inside a child’s backpack, helping students who might otherwise go without food on weekends.

This generous sponsorship from the Eli Hill Foundation will help provide thousands of meals to children across Laurel County. At the close of the 2025-2026 school year our program was feeding 951 students weekly.

We extend our sincere gratitude to the Hill family and everyone involved with the Eli Hill Foundation. Their generosity is more than a financial gift, it brings hope to children, support to families, and encouragement to our community.

Eli’s kindness continues to ripple outward, feeding children, helping, and reminding us all of these valuable lessons. One life can make a lasting difference. Love outlives us all. Kindness multiplies. Eli’s legacy will carry on through our program in every child this gift will help nourish.
