Laurel County Cattlemen's Association The Laurel County chapter of The Kentucky Cattlemen's Association works to protect, advance and be a strong voice for the state's cattle producers.

As the largest cattle producing state east of the Mississippi River, Kentucky is home to over 1.1 million beef cows and ranks 5th nationally in total number of farms. The Kentucky Cattlemen's Association, a grassroots organization with 99 chapters in 120 counties, works to protect, advance and be a strong voice for the state's 38,000 + cattle producers. ive voice for all of Kentucky's Beef Farm Families, serve as a resource for information and education for producers, consumers and the industry and be a catalyst for enhancing producer profitability.

Applications for this year’s program are available beginning Tuesday, August 26, at the Laurel County Extension Office or online at https://laurel.ca.uky.edu/caip. Completed applications must be returned to the Extension Office no later than 4 p.m. on Thursday, September 18.
CAIP provides financial assistance to Kentucky producers through 11 incentive areas designed to boost farm income, increase efficiency, and encourage innovative practices. Eligible categories include:
• Agricultural Diversification
• Animal, Large (including new BSE rules for bull purchases)
• Animal, Small
• Farm Infrastructure
• Fencing & On-Farm Water
• Forage & Grain Improvement
• Innovative Agricultural Systems
• On-Farm Energy
• Poultry & Other Fowl
• Ag Tech & Leadership Development
• Value-Added & Marketing
Local producers are encouraged to review the 2025 guidelines carefully before applying, as several program rules have changed this year.
The cost-share program is funded by the Kentucky Office of Agricultural Policy and the Kentucky Agricultural Development Fund and administered locally by the Laurel County Cattlemen’s Association.

Regularly scheduled meeting this Thursday, August 7 at 7 PM. The meeting will be held at the Laurel County Extension Agriculture & Horticulture office. Light refreshments will be served. Discussion is upcoming CAIP program, and tornado relief efforts.
