EAST Initiative

EAST Initiative EAST® is Education Accelerated through Service and Technology.

The EAST Initiative is an independent nonprofit organization that provides all learners the opportunity to have relevant, individualized, life-changing educational experiences. EAST supplies students with the latest in sophisticated hardware and software technology and challenges them in identifying and solving problems and improving the communities in which they live. Students engage with communi

ty partners and master the tools of tomorrow’s tech-driven workforce, all while pursuing their own interests as they develop and complete service projects. Meanwhile, they also develop collaborative, team-oriented skills of project management and delivery. In addition to establishing these unique classrooms and offering technical support, the EAST Initiative also offers powerful technology training both to students and educators, including providing professional development focusing on integrating technology into any classroom, regardless of subject.

Congratulations to Kathryn and Grayson for utilizing what they learned in EAST Student Training to complete such a great hometown project! 🥳

EAST students Kathryn Hartshorn and Grayson Herring completed their project working on preserving the story of Hamburg, Arkansas! They researched local historic landmarks with the help of their community partner, Lezlie Foote, uncovering community history and shining a light on the places that make our town special! Kathryn and Grayson went to a two day EAST student training to learn more about the ArcGIS software that they were using for this project. Posted below is a link to their ArcGIS StoryMap with a personalized embedded map. Great job students!
