Great write-up of Historic Curran Hall in the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette / ArkansasOnline.com.

Built in 1842, Historic Curran Hall is the city’s only antebellum home open daily to the public. It houses the official Little Rock Visitor Information Center and is the Mayor’s Reception Hall. Managed by the Quapaw Quarter Association, Curran Hall welcomes weddings, bridal parties, photography sessions, meetings, intimate gatherings, receptions, sit-down dinners, and buffets, hosted both inside the lovely historic home and on beautifully landscaped grounds maintained by the Pulaski County Master Gardeners.

A sign on the the door leading into Curran Hall from its backyard floral garden offers a reminder that this is one of Little Rock's most venerable surviving structures. It was built in 1842, only six years after Arkansas became a state.

📣Just 5 tickets left!📣 Step through time as we explore different era's of Arkansas history, accompanied by tasty bites that represent the time periods! Hosted by Jennifer Carman and Kat Wilson at the Mills Davis House, an Italianate Little Rock home built in 1878.

Dinner will include 8-10 small bites from Territorial Arkansas to the present. Take a culinary tour through history, and even taste some recipes from famous Arkansas families.

The Mills-Davis house is a prime example of historic preservation in the MacArthur Park historic district. After a 2015 house fire, the property was purchased by Jennifer Carman in 2016. The house went through an extensive rehabilitation. Jennifer's background in art history and appraisals, gave her the starting point to complete the rehab using sensitive practices, dedicated replacements, and historically sensitive paint colors.

Happy Juneteenth from the Quapaw Quarter Association! Also known as Emancipation Day, this holiday celebrates the final announcement of freedom across the United States. This announcement came two and a half years after the signing of the Emancipation Proclamation. In 2021, Juneteenth was made a federal holiday.

Some of the first recorded Juneteenth observances in Arkansas occurred in Little Rock and other cities like Texarkana, Pine Bluff, and Helena in the 1880s. These celebrations were filled with picnics, readings of the Emancipation Proclamation, music, games, and cake walks. They were often hosted by local churches, colleges, and community organizations.

The QQA was honored to host an open house alongside the Hathaway Group at the Pike-Fletcher-Terry Mansion last Friday. Thank you to everyone who came out to visit and share their memories and family histories with us. This property has touched so many people in Little Rock and we hope that the next buyer loves the historic details of this property as much as we do. When you purchase a historic property like this you don't just become a homeowner, you become the steward of the history, stories, and architecture of the home.
