“The centerpiece was what may have been the most exciting ex*****on of George Gershwin’s “Rhapsody in Blue” I have ever heard, with pianist Stewart Goodyear blowing the doors off the hall, and the orchestra, with conductor Geoffrey Robson on the podium, matching him note for note” - Arkansas Democrat-Gazette

What an AMAZING way to open the new ASO season!! We hope many of you had a wonderful symphony experience, and enjoyed hearing music by iconic American composers!

Enjoy this harp arrangement of George Gershwin’s “Rhapsody in Blue”!🎶

Our harpists, Alisa Bekebrede and Dr. Colleen Thorburn, are playing the Copland Symphony this weekend. Even though there’s no harp in “Rhapsody in Blue”, Alisa wanted to get to play some Gershwin too!

The harp Alisa is playing on was donated to ASO in memory of Mary Busby Stramel by her husband, Tom Stramel. 🤍
