Meet A*O's new Associate Conductor, Matthew Pavon! 🎉

We are so thrilled to welcome Matthew to the A*O family! He will lead the Arkansas Symphony Youth Orchestra (ASYO) and will serve as assistant and cover conductor for all A*O Masterworks and Pops concerts. Stay tuned later this summer to find out when his debut concert with the A*O will be! 🎶

"Matthew brings a wonderful combination of high-level artistry and a genuine heart for people. Our audiences and musicians are going to love his energy, personality, and musicality, and his background as a violist and in youth orchestras gives him a perspective that will truly resonate with our students. I look forward to collaborating with him as we embark on our 61st season.” - A*O Music Director Geoffrey Robson

Congratulations to Valery Saul!! We are very excited for her next journey in Nashville! 🎶

Join us in welcoming to Music City!

The Nashville Symphony is excited to announce the recent appointment of Valery Saul as the orchestra’s Associate Conductor. The Associate Conductor position is a three-season appointment beginning in the 2026/2027 season, continuing until the conclusion of the 2028/2029 season.

“We are honored to welcome Valery Saul to the Nashville Symphony team,” said Nashville Symphony President & CEO Alan D. Valentine. “Valery brings a wealth of experience, artistic versatility, and technical command that we are excited for Nashville to experience.”

Described by Marin Alsop as a “powerful presence on the podium,” Saul is recognized for her ability to forge immediate connections with orchestras, leading to engagements across the United States. In 2025, Saul was selected for the Dallas Opera Hart Institute for Women Conductors. Most recently, she served as the Associate Conductor of the Arkansas Symphony Orchestra from 2023–2026, culminating in her acclaimed Masterworks debut with the orchestra.
