The Van Meeting the immediate needs of Arkansans experiencing unsheltered homelessness as fast as we can. You have to survive it to ever overcome it.

The Van takes many of life's most basic necessities out to our neighbors battling unsheltered homelessness, combing alleys, searching under bridges, tromping through the woods, and anywhere else we need to go. We are a very grassroots organization with a tiny staff of 3. Teams of 2 outreach volunteers work their committed sections of the metro each night after our hardworking warehouse staff & vol

unteers sort through donations and load The Van down. What started with a dude in a car is now an unquantifiable force of people who care enough to do what they can to make this The Van.

Good morning, friends! We have a big specific need for help on something and maybe you know someone! Do you remember that cool RV that was recently donated by David's Burgers? Well, that will soon be doing mobile social work around the metro….but get this, they’re also now donating a refrigerated gooseneck trailer! This will provide an immediate walk-in cooler for the emergency shelter and save us thousands and thousands of dollars. Here’s the hiccup. The refridgeration is mounted so that it requires a 3/4-ton pickup with a *flatbed* and gooseneck ball to tow it. Unfortunately, as is it won’t clear on our 3/4 ton. So, we’re looking for someone to help us get it moved from the Dark Hollow area of NLR out to the Morgan/Maumelle exit. We’d love to find someone to help with it but we are willing to hire someone if necessary. Give us a shout if you’ve got the truck! Message the page or email: [email protected]

What an incredible day at the new building with a massive crew from Keller Williams Realty Little Rock for their Red Day. They did so much work to help us move toward emergency shelter readiness! They did tons of clean up now that the buildout has been winding down. Painting. Organizing. They turned a hot mess into melted stress. It smells so good in there now!! We can’t thank you all enough for your time, talents, and concern for any Arkansan that needs inside when the winter weather gets deadly. Y’all, we’re getting there!!

This Saturday 5/9 we’ll be set up at Smoke Shack Bar-B-Q in Maumelle in place of Ninja Chef at Three Sisters Farm Gourmet Stand with a plant sale take over!! This is just across the interstate from our new building (still undergoing renovations) on the Morgan side. We’ll have Pawpaw saplings, tomato/cucumber/peppers/basil/more plant starts. So if you haven’t planted your garden or raised beds yet, just come see us at Smoke Shack Saturday. All these plants are started from seed in our greenhouse using Man of The Red Earth products from day one, so they can live in their cups as long as you need to get your spot ready and get them set out!

I’m gonna let him have all the social media pages soon, I swear. We’ll make a video together soon when I find I’m having a particularly decent day and dispel rumors while letting y’all know what all is happening with the work, how the transition is going (so well‼️), and why/how it’s knocked me down so much, how the shelter building is coming along, how you can get in on 🌺 🌼 subscriptions from Back 5 Fields, a fantastic land donation that will support all of our work especially outreach and our upcoming mobile social work RV, how you can plug in and help in so many ways, and all that stuff. My dear buddy, and one of our founding board members, Mark Currey Music has put together a little porch pickin’ on the Stickyz stage to just kinda share some memories, celebrate what “I’ve” done (only because of y’all), and pass the torch so to speak to Parker, who is already doing a bang-up job! Someone asked me the other day if The Van was going to be shutting down. I just want y’all to know that The Van‘s just getting started. Until no Arkansan has to sleep outside!! Please drop in and visit May 16th between 6 and 9 PM. All ages means bring your kids! I’ll be in my zero-gravity chair up by the stage. Hope to see y’all soon. We made two posters. We might make two or three more. You never know.
