RFK is led by Christ followers who share a common goal with people of good will in caring for those Jesus referred to as, “The least of these.” In our case, children of neglect, abuse, and abandonment. Our Christian faith is woven into everything that we do as respond to Jesus Christ’s call to love and to serve. We pursue this mission through our holistic commitment to:

Royal Family KIDS – Lancaster County, NE began in 2001 as a project of Mission Nebraska after a number of their staff had been involved with a Royal Family Kids’ Camp in the Hastings area. In 2002, Mission Nebraska began to hand off this camp to five local churches and by 2003, this transition was complete. The organization has continued to minister to the abused and neglected kids of Lancaster County since 2001, offering a one-week camp usually in late July in which we bring 50-75 kids out for a great week of positive memories of fun activities with other kids and loving adults. In 2013, we launched Royal Family KIDS Club and mentorships here in Lincoln, so we have opportunities now to see and minister to our campers nearly all year long.

Our campers received a special gift this camp year to spark their creativity! 🎨 🖌 Each camper received a sling bag filled with art supplies, generously gifted by the Lundborg Foundation in partnership with Faith2Create Ministry.

We love seeing how their faith and generosity reach beyond Minnesota to bless RFKC campers here in Nebraska!

This year we tried something new, and it turned into something truly special. 💜

Every camper receives a brand-new Bible when they arrive at camp. This year, after a pastor reached out wanting to support RFKC in a tangible way, we invited Aldersgate United Methodist Church, Pleasant Dale United Methodist Church, and Denton United Methodist Church to write inscriptions in the Bibles before camp. Church members added favorite Bible verses, words of encouragement, prayers, and reminders that each child is deeply loved by God. Each Bible was also prayed over before it made its way into the hands of a camper.

It was beautiful to see so much intentionality poured into these gifts. We pray these Bibles will continue to remind our campers of God's love and faithfulness long after camp has ended.

Every month we bring together 40+ kids, their mentors, and our mentoring staff to Free Church for our mentoring club! First Free Church has been our club location for the last many years, and we're so thankful for their heart to our kiddos and sharing their beautiful space with us!

This year marked our 25th Royal Family KIDS Camp! 🎉 To celebrate this milestone, our national organization, For The Children, presented us with a plaque recognizing 25 years of ministry and the faithful support of New Covenant Community Church, our host church since the very beginning.

Watch as Kevin and Big Mike present the plaque and share how Royal Family KIDS Camp is making a difference in the lives of children who have experienced relational trauma.

While New Covenant has faithfully served as our host church for all 25 years, this ministry is truly a community effort. Every year, volunteers from 20+ churches across Nebraska (and even a few from out of state!) come together to serve. No matter what church you attend, there's a place for you to make a difference with us.

The self esteem of so many of these kids is so low that they naturally expect to be mistreated nearly every day. We're glad we are able to be "toatly asome" for our campers. Come join in on the fun and the miracles we see every summer.

One of our songs (the B-Rap) says "be courageous and try new things and try new things!" This camper was all over that! Thank you Jesus!

We get some background information on our campers before they come. Sometimes, though, we learn more from their Dear God letters. Who knows what the regular nightly routine is for this camper? We're sure happy that they felt safe with us (and God).

Well, it is football season 🏈. And who, in their right mind, wouldn't want God on their team, right? Thank you, Lord, for being that real in the eyes of our campers!
