Joining Forces Saving Lives

Joining Forces Saving Lives We are steadfast in our efforts to save the lives of cats and dogs by collaborating with the organizations and people who care.

Joining Forces...Saving Lives is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization created in 2012. We coordinate a low cost Trap Neuter Return (TNR) program. Please contact us if you can help with TNR including trap, transport and return cats. Our volunteer hours are Wednesday and Thursday afternoons. We are accepting new colonies for TNR especially those that can help trap, transport and return the cats indep

endently because only a few volunteers are available to help with TNR currently. If you are interested in TNR please contact us at 402 937 9959 or email us at [email protected].

Beat the Heat.
Kittens can have more kittens! A female kitten can become pregnant by 4-5 months of age, which means if you have a kitten that you brought home in 2025, it is time to get them spayed and neutered- before its too late!
P.s. brothers and sisters, mothers and sons, fathers and daughters are not immune to the risk of pregnancy. Cats do not care about relationships like humans do... If your girl cat has any access to boys, even just sitting in the backyard... It's time! Appointment scheduling link in the comments below!

⚠️⚠️ PLEASE HELP US SPREAD THE WORD! ⚠️⚠️ We are at 109% canine capacity, leaving the shelter overwhelmed. We are working hard to find these Good Boys and Good Girls their new homes, but we need YOUR help. You can adopt, foster, and share our posts. You never know who will connect with the pup in the photo you share - it could be their new owner! We are giving our 100% to these dogs, can you lend us a hand? 🐾🙏

Beginning September 1, 2024 Joining Forces Saving Lives (JFSL) will no longer be coordinating a trap neuter release (TNR) program.

Joining Forces Saving Lives (JFSL) in partnership with Capital Humane Society has done amazing work to help cats in Lincoln and surrounding areas. JFSL started a TNR program with a small grant that paid for 100 cats to be TNR'ed and then added another grant for a barn cat program that paid for 100 cats at CHS to be fixed and we relocated to barn homes.

Today JFSL has fixed/TNR'ed over 6,000 cats over the last 8 years and CHS has continued and sustained the barn cat program.

The outdoor cat situation in the community of Lincoln is in much better shape than when we started and we have amazing people and non-profits that are continuing the efforts to make sure Lincoln continues to progress.

Capital Humane Society (CHS) is still offering TNR and fixing acreage/farm cats for drop off 4 days per week so please contact CHS at 402-441-4488 if you are interested in TNR and can trap, transport and release cats independently and can afford to pay $50 per cat to be spayed, neutered, vaccinations, microchip, dewormer and flea meds.

If you need TNR assistance in trapping and transporting or financial assistance for TNR please contact The Cat House at 402-441-9593 or go to the www.thecathouse.org. Their tnr program runs most week days and they pay all tnr costs and you can sign up online.

Sometime in the near future Brave Animal Rescue will offer TNR to those that need assistance trapping and transporting or those that need financial assistance. You can contact them at [email protected] to inquire about TNR.

We expect TNR to increase in Lincoln and surrounding communities with Brave Animal Rescue and The Cat House expanding TNR efforts.

Also, If you need TNR for FERAL cats near Beatrice, NE please contact Beatrice Humane Society and TNR is $40 per cat and includes spay/neuter, vaccinations and microchip. They have TNR on most weekdays if you contact them and set it up.

Please do not trap a cat before you have contacted an organization that does TNR such as The Cat House or Capital Humane Society or Beatrice Humane Society or Brave Animal Rescue AND have talked to them and made an appointment for the cat to get TNR services. No TNR services or vets are available on the weekends or evenings or holidays.

We do not support or recommend relocating adult feral or semi feral outdoor cats and never recommend taking them to a shelter or trapping a cat and having animal control take it to the shelter. The best practice is to TNR these cats!!!

If you are looking for vet assistance for an injured cat Brave Animal Rescue has a program that may be able to help and Sadie Dog Fund has a vet assistance program for dogs.

If you are looking for a rescue or no kill shelter (meaning they meet the standard of 90% live release rate) for kittens or a friendly cat, we suggest contacting Brave Animal Rescue, The Cat House, The Phoenix Remix Animal Rescue, Revolution Rescue, Dolly's Legacy Animal Rescue, Beatrice Humane Society or other area rescues. Capital Humane Society is an open admission shelter that will also take cats and dogs.

We will continue to collaborate with area organizations and hope to implement a TNR ordinance in Lincoln and may look at starting a few more programs in the future.

Thank you to everyone that helped and supported us with the TNR program.

We are not accepting new TNR colonies currently. We are backed up with dozens of request for help with TNR and we only have funds for 101 more TNR's which will take us through August 2024. We are focusing on our current TNR areas but The Cat House and Brave Animal Rescue are stepping up their TNR efforts so please feel free to reach out to them if you need TNR. Also, If you can trap, transport and pay the $50 per cat for TNR for city or farm cats then contact Capital Humane Society and set up a colony and TNR the cats in your area or if you are close to Beatrice contact Beatrice Humane Society and inquire about their TNR program which is $40 per cat.

After September, Joining Forces Saving Lives will focus on bringing all organizations and people together to form an all encompassing TNR group for our area and then to hopefully work on a TNR ordinance for the city of Lincoln which is critical to finally solving the community cat problem.

A giant THANK YOU to all the awesome people that made donations so Joining Forces Saving Lives could TNR over 6,000 cats in 8 years. Without your support, we could not have made the huge impact that we did for cats in and around Lincoln.

PLEASE SHARE and PLEASE CONSIDER Joining Forces Saving Lives ON GIVE TO LINCOLN DAY THURSDAY MAY 30TH!
Every dollar donated to Joining Forces Saving Lives goes to TNR and medication for TNR cats as well as helping kittens in TNR areas. We are an all volunteer organization. Our dedicated amazing volunteers Marlene Tracy and Karen Kurbis work and TNR mainly in low income areas and fix as many cats as possible each week...vowing to fix and TNR them all before leaving the area. Last week we fixed 20 cats at a cost of $1000 and the week of May 13th to 17th 2024 we fixed 31 cats with a cost of over $1500 for just that week. Our volunteers also saved 10 kittens that week. Your donations go directly to helping cats and kittens in Lincoln through our community cat TNR program. Please help us get to 7000 cats TNR'ed by the end of the year. Thank you for considering a donation to Joining Forces Saving Lives.

Please help chs!!!! If you can, please adopt a dog or two!!!

🚨🚨This is urgent, please read.

We at Capital Humane Society are in a crisis and we need the community’s help. We do not have a single open dog kennel at either of our shelter locations – we are at 100% capacity. We will not be accepting dog surrenders until further notice unless it is an extreme emergency. A wait list is available.

This is urgent; we refuse to euthanize dogs because we are at full capacity.

We are running an adoption promotion from now through Sunday – all pets available for adoption have a 50% reduced adoption fee. This includes puppies, adult dogs, kittens, adult cats, and critters.

This issue will not be solved by an adoption promotion alone, it is a Band-Aid on a gaping wound. Our shelter reaching maximum capacity will be an on-going problem that will lessen by spaying and neutering the pets in our community. It is up to each pet owner to take responsible steps to ensure we see fewer unwanted pets by spaying and neutering those in their care. Resources we provide are the low cost spay and neuter program, affordable spay and neuter surgeries at our Stransky Veterinary Center, and our partnership with Lincoln Animal Ambassadors for their spay and neuter voucher assistance program. Please contact us at 402-441-4488 for more information regarding any of these services.

Please note, we require viable space to fulfill our contractual obligations with the City of Lincoln and Lancaster County. We must have available kennels for the dogs brought into our care through these avenues.

While we are on a temporary hold to accept dogs, please use the following rehoming platforms as needed: Rehome by Adopt a Pet, Rescue Me!, and Home to Home. Please complete a transfer ownership form once the pet has found a new home. Please review all rehoming information we have available here: https://www.capitalhumanesociety.org/services-resources/rehoming.html. You can also view information regarding how to send your pet to a rescue here: https://www.capitalhumanesociety.org/services-resources/rescues.html.

Please also consider utilizing our lost and found pet resources – specifically our lost and found pet map.

Finally, adopt. Please adopt today, and if you can’t, share this message with your friends and family. We need your help.

Wow 27 cats TNR'ed in ONE DAY! A special thanks to Karen Kurbis, Marlene Tracy, and Tammy Douglas who helped Joining Forces Saving Lives accomplish this unbelievable TNR journey. We needed 2 pickup trucks to transport all the cats! The Beatrice Humane Society staff are amazing to work with. Thanks to BHS, Carlee, Caitlin and Dr. Jones for putting in an extra long day on Tuesday. Also thanks to CHS that have fixed 21 more from this same area.

It is give to Lincoln Day on May 30th. Please consider a donation to Joining Forces Saving Lives. Donations will be accepted today through May 20, 2024.

We are an all-volunteer organization committed to do everything in our power to help save cats in our community.

In the last 8 years, we have fixed and vaccinated (TNR) approximately 6,000 community cats in Lincoln and surrounding communities including farms and acreages through our Community Cat TNR program.

100% of all donations will go towards saving lives including:

1. Trap, Neuter, Return (TNR) efforts in Lincoln, NE and surrounding communities including farms

2. Saving kittens found doing TNR

3. Helping cats

In the next year, we will be focusing on bringing animal organizations together to collaborate on how to save more dogs and cats in our community.

One of our goals is to create a SE Nebraska TNR group to solve the overpopulation of cats humanely through spay/neuter and TNR.

Thank you for helping us help cats! We promise to help as many cats as possible and your donation helps us accomplish this mission.

Help us with our giving day event!

please adopt a couple working cats!!!!

Remember how all hands were on deck for dogs last week?? Well, we have an urgent need to place the working cats that are in our care. 🐈

Working cats are best suited for outside homes as they are independent or semi-feral to feral. These cats are available to community members looking for natural pest deterrents. Whether you run a business/shop or maintain a barn, or just want a few mousers on your property, we can help you find the perfect working cat for your environment!
