Lynette's Angels

Lynette's Angels Lynette's Angels was created in honor of one of the most amazing women ever, Lynette Earnest, a loving wife and mother, daughter, sister, aunt and friend!

Mission: To provide an amazing Christmas for families impacted by cancer. We are launching Lynette's Angels today, June 15, 2015, on what would have been her 48th birthday. We are doing this so her legacy continues and to become a group that will uphold all Lynette represented in life, compassion, trust, and faith. She was an amazing woman with a heart of gold who loved her family and friends fier

cely. Lynette passed away December 21st, 2014 after a long courageous battle with colon cancer. Doctors gave her 2 years to live when she was first diagnosed...proof of her faith and her ability to fight is that she surpassed that initial time stamp and she survived 3 years and 4 months...and boy did she survive! She lived life to the fullest always ready to make wonderful memories with her family and friends. Now...this part...is the reason for Lynette's Angels...

Always thinking of others...last year Lynette was to come to Thanksgiving dinner, but was just too sick to attend, so she called and we put her on speaker phone. She had wanted to talk to us about picking a family in need and in lieu of our standard "Chinese Auction" that was celebrated by all the adults at Christmas time we take that money we would have spent on us and buy gifts and food for a family who could use a hand during the holidays. So that is what we did, bought gifts for 4 children, and gas cards and dinners for their father who was raising them. She made contact with the family, spoke to the dad and made the delivery time for December 21, 2014 at 1:00pm. Sadly, Lynette passed away in the early hours of that very day...December 21st. The delivery was made knowing that she would have wanted it that way...thanks to her what may have been a dreary Christmas for that family ended with a bright spot, and what we hope the family felt was that things are good, people are good, and life is good. We, along with Mark's support, decided we...and well the world, deserves to make this a tradition...and continue Lynette's legacy, and here is how Mark, Austin & Addison, and the rest of us created Lynette's Angels! We will hold a couple of fundraisers each year to bring money in for a local family(s) who, no thanks to cancer, are struggling during the holiday season. We will take the money from the fundraisers and determine what the family(s) needs are during this time. I will send out a message via our page asking our supporters to nominate a family(s) struggling from the effects of cancer and from the nominations the recipient(s) of Lynette's gift will be chosen by the Lynette's Angels Board of Directors and then we will deliver to a new family(s) every year in the month of December in her honor. We are certain she would want people to always remember her mantra when her first T-shirts were designed "When Life Hands You Lemons...You make Lynette-Aide” everyone could use a little Lynette-Aide! All this is done with our "Love for Lynette." Thank you for your support!

We would like to introduce our final main family!
Casandra Leverette and her two children, Ezeriah, 11, and Arazella, 8.

Casandra has been courageously battling cancer and is currently facing cervical cancer for the second time, which has now advanced to stage 4 terminal. Just 12 months ago, she was given an 18-month prognosis. Tragically, a few months ago, she lost her home and is now living with her mother.

Due to her ongoing health challenges and related co-morbidities, Casandra (Cassie) is unable to work. She is a devoted mother to Ezeriah, who has disabilities and functions at a level more akin to that of a toddler, and her spirited daughter, Arazella. Over the past year, Casandra has experienced tremendous hardships, navigating cancer remission, a new diagnosis, and making arrangements to ensure her children's well-being.

We kindly ask for your prayers and support for this remarkable family as they endure the unimaginable. Together, we hope to make a meaningful impact this Holiday Season during this challenging time.

Introducing the Burks Family!

Meet Marianna, her husband Jai, and their five wonderful children: Aida, Isis, Aria, Ivan, and Iyla.

This year, Marianna received a diagnosis of Triple Positive Breast Cancer. She has begun her journey of chemotherapy and immunotherapy infusions, with plans to continue her treatment throughout the year, followed by surgery.

As an Assistant Professor of Practice in the School of Biological Sciences at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, Marianna also serves as a co-principal investigator and director of the STEM-POWER research mentorship program, in addition to being a Science Specialist for the UNL TRIO Programs. True to her role as an educator, Marianna actively shares her experience on social media to raise awareness and encourage others to prioritize their health through early mammogram screenings.

This Christmas, we look forward to bringing joy and support to this incredibly deserving family!

The next family we would like to introduce is the Foote Family.
Tiffany, Jeremy and their 2 Children Easton (14), and Alex (9)

Tiffany was diagnosed with inflammatory breast cancer in the spring of 2025. Inflammatory breast cancer is a rare and aggressive form of breast cancer, that can sometimes be an initial missed diagnosis (which was unfortunately the case for her). For the past 7 months, she has endured the physical and financial toll of traveling to NYC to see a specialist and for treatments. She made it through 12 rounds of chemo infusions and a mastectomy, and she is now doing specialized radiation therapy in Texas for 6 weeks.
Tiffany is a teacher at Kahoa Elementary. Throughout it all, she has remained dedicated to her students, and has spent as much time in her classroom as she can -- worried about how her absence affects her students. For example, she returned to work just three weeks after her mastectomy, even though she could have taken much longer. Her fight and determination have been beyond inspiring. I know this has also been a very difficult time for her husband and kids, and her necessary travels for treatment have meant many days apart from one another. They have always done (and continue to do) so much for the people who can call them teacher, coach, friend, or family.

We are excited to bless this wonderful family this Christmas!

We are very excited to introduce all of our main families for the 2025 Lynette’s Angels Christmas Season this week!
💜💜💜

To get started the first family we would like you to meet is Jordan and Julie Mruz and their 3 beautiful Children Jackson, Teddy and Sophie (8,6,4 years old)

Last year, Jordan (Dad) began experiencing pain off and on in his right ulna and elbow. In July it got painful enough he went to the doctor and began doing PT to work on getting range of motion back in his elbow. After a few weeks the Physical Therapist recommended he get evaluated again starting a whirlwind of appointments, scans, and procedures.
Ultimately, the doctors at UNMC discovered Jordan has Bone Cancer and a 21 cm tumor sitting between the two bones in his right forearm that originated from inside the ulna. Jordan started as soon as possible doing chemo therapy every two weeks, followed by a 4-5 day hospital stay to receive other chemo meds. Jordan will be doing this for the next several months along with surgery to follow.
We are hoping and praying these treatments will make a difference for Jordan!

We are so excited to make this Christmas unforgettable for this special family!💜

We are so grateful to all of the nominations that were sent in and the board has voted on who our main LA recipients will be this Christmas Season.
Be watching for those announcements this week as we introduce all of them! 💜

Before we get into the recipients and wishlists that will be coming out soon we wanted to first introduce to anyone that’s new here our Lynette’s Angels Board of Directors. 😇
This group of people are some of the most amazing, selfless people in all that they have done to help families suffering from the effects of cancer in the last 10+ years!
Every one of these board members have been here from the very beginning of Lynette’s Angels inception wether or not they were the original founding members or from the very first year of LA they were huge supporters in donating and adopting entire LA families to pull off a Christmas for a family to then becoming officially on the board. 😇
None of this would be possible without the sacrifices of this group year after year to pull it all off!
